blood clot
Linda,
I had a blood clot in my messenteric vein. They put me on lovenox shots and coumadin. I stopped the lovenox when i built up the coumadin level in my body. I stayed on coumadin for 6 months and the clot went away. Is the clot completely occluding her colon? What is the plan of care for her? they sometimes can go in through another artery and "suck" out the clot depending on where it is and if it is easy to get to. she will most likely be on a blood thinner for a while now. Hope this helps. I will keep her in my prayers!!

Mom woke up 3 days after her 1st chemo treatment with an enormous swollen arm. Off we went to the emergency room where it was discovered she had 3 clots with one being in her jugular vein.
She was put on coumadin, and took it for 6 months. The clot dissapeared after the coumadin treatment. She had to get her blood checked (finger prick) weekly and her dosage adjusted with her blood results, but it worked. With coumadin you have to watch your diet carefully with foods containing vitamin K.
It's been about 6 months since she's been off coumadin, and there has not been any evidence of a clot from there on.0 -
They have been treating me
They have been treating me as if I have a blood clot but it may be lymphocele (large) pressure on my ilieac vein in the pelvic area which created restricted blood flow. I had leg swelling and went to ER 10 days after my surgery. I was on Lovenox injections for about 20 days and then transitioned to Coumadin (warfarin). I am finally on the finger prick blood test. Pretty much the same as the other ladies have posted...Dr. expects to keep me on it for about 6 months.0 -
Hi Linda,
Haven't had this
Hi Linda,
Haven't had this to occur to date; but there are so many options of treatment (depending on the location of the clot) available and with testing, they will know exactly which one to use.
So I am just sending you a heads up that there are treatments (thinners/procedural) for clotting and that I'm keeping you in prayer through this.
Take care,
Sharon0
