    Mary,
I knew you were out there. Time is really consumed when the hustle and bustle of everyday life comes back to reality. Working takes up a 1/3 of the day in itself. Just take it easy and pace yourself. Hmmmm!! I think someone named Merrywinner gave me that same advice one time. Be thinking of you and do not work to hard. John(FNHL-1-4A-5/10)REMISSION

    So sweet..
    Hi Mary,
You are such a sweet caring lady and always around with words of encouragement and useful wise advice..."Thank You"! Our family has decided to get back to the basics and stop the hectic stress that Christmas so often creates. We all drew names at Thanksgiving and instead of buying a gift we will be spending one 8 hour day with that person. We each have until the end of January to complete the day and it is to be spent spending quality time enjoying that persons company...be it helping them with a project, or taking a nice drive somewhere, a luncheon date...whatever. Instead of a material gift we are giving each other the gift of time to be together. My oldest son drew my name, so I am going to have him drive me to the skii lodge for a day where I can sit in the lodge and watch the skiiers. I was an avid skiier up until a few years ago and dearly miss swooshing down the slopes at break neck speed. It will be fun to see whats new and happening on the slopes. Christmas eve we are having a slumber party here at the house and all of the kids and grandkids are going to spend the night...party food...cookies and deserts and movie marathon night. Then in the morning we will all cook breakfast and afterwards they will all go to their extended family members to spend some time. I'm totally excited to have the hustle and bustle of all of us gathered together just like it was when they were all little. Wayyy past time for this. I told the kids..."the true meaning of Christmas comes from the heart, not from a gift under a tree". May sound corny, but cancer has a way of putting things in a new perspective. Sorry to have rambled...this is the first week I've been able to type a sentence that even made sense...ha! You take care Mary and don't work too hard! Love, always...Sue (FNHL-2-3A-6/10)

    Beautiful idea
What a great ideal to give each other the gift of time. Gifts we buy are eventually broken or worn out but the gift of time stays in our hearts forever. I love this!! Thanks so much for sharing and may you have a blessed holiday season.

    Time
    Hi Sue, et al,

Well, you've just described about the most perfect Christmas that there is! In fact, for the last 2 years and this year, our all of our kids and grandkids spend Christmas eve night at our house doing whatever it is that we want to do. (We can be board game folks, so cards and games have been played for hours.) Then we do breakfast etc. on Christmas morning.

And last year for the first time we drew names so that each person only gives to one other person. And this year I thought about putting on MY Christmas list for whoever draws me, to just spend a day with each other. WOW! I was blown away to read your post. As it turned out, I didn't put that on my list. Now I wish that I had.

I had my last infusion the day before Thanksgiving, and even though we had the whole family there, it was a really difficult day for me. But by Christmas we will have the final results of the chemo and I will be feeling much better. Looking forward to it.

By the way, do you get the severe headaches when you come OFF of pred? Man, I got slammed yesterday, 36 hours AFTER my last pred. All I could do was curl up in bead and moan. Felt like a true wuss!

And Sue, you are right about a new perspective on life. It's for sure that every Christmas from now on is going to be the best one yet for me.

All the very, very best to everyone for Christmas.

    Headache
    Hi Tom,
YES...after round 4 I had 3 really bad days of headaches after finishing the pred and again after last weeks round 5..(this last Sunday and Monday I had a doozy of a headache). I have a prescription of percocette(sp?) which doesn't get rid of the headaches completely, but does help. What gets me is how bad my body aches the week after I'm done with the pred...(this week). My joints hurt teribly and my fingers get very stiff and sore. I could barely make it through writing out my checks for the monthly bills yesterday. I'm hoping next week will be my rally week...didn't happen last month, but I'm keepin the faith and hope to see some "perk up" days before the 14th..ha! If I walked through the fresh snow outside, you would see butt cheek tracks following my footsteps...hahaha! Now thats tired!ha!
Take care Tom...get plenty of rest and we will both look forward to good scan results at the end of the month..it "WILL" happen!!
    Love...Sue (FNHL-2-3A-6/10)

Oh I am really good at dishing out the advice....It's the taking it part that I don't do as well at. But all kidding aside I do listen pretty closely to my body and try not to push it. I am a seasoned napper. I know that when I feel tired I must need sleep(the great repairer). I am lucky that I can sleep anytime I need to without problems falling asleep. How are your eyes doing? I'll be thinking about you too. Mary(FNHL-1-4A-&/o8) Remission

    Thank you Sue
You are pretty sweet and caring yourself. Thank you! Your posts are always a breath of fresh air. Your Christmas plans sound so very special. I will have to keep that idea in mind for next year. I am excited just imagining it. We drew names among the adults this year but will buy for the kids. We usually have a theme and this year everyone had to also draw a Fairy Tale and buy a gift for the person they drew loosely based on that Fairy Tale. So far everyone has had some fun with it and it's so fun to see how creative people can be. You will get through this fatigue business and your last treatment well, I just know it. Hang in there! It all gets better I promise. Mary

    The eyes
    Mary,
Thanks for asking about my eyes. They seem a little better every day. I know the eye medicine that Sue recommended had a lot to do with it(soothe). They do still feel tired at times but not as bad as a week ago. My hair is starting to grow back though. Got a lot of fuzzys that are starting to thicken up and getting some color back into it. Started out like baby hair with no color at all. It is coming in straight like it was before too. I was so afraid I was going to have purple hair or worse. hahahaha!!! John(FNHL-1-4A-5/10)
