Staged and Treatment

Just got back from the Dr's. office for a consultation on the stage and treatment that he recommends.
Stage is a T1 maybe just starting out stage T2. Oncologist recommends surgery to remove area and follow up treatments. This will be done in a Green Bay, Wi hospital.
When I asked about the MIE procedure he wasn't familiar with it. But recommended I have this done as soon as possible.
I guess my question is now am I a candidate for the MIE procedure?

    I agree with William and Sherri, but you are not fully staged with just a T number. Have you had a CT or PET scan, or even an endoscopic ultrasound? If you haven't had further testing and your doctors haven't scheduled any, that's all the more reason to seek treatment or at least a second opinion elsewhere.

    I've learned with this disease you can't take any chances, and the more accurately you are staged, the better chance of finding the best treatment plan (e.g., pre-op chemo if there's node involvement -- highly unlikely, but T2 by itself does not necessarily rule that out).

    Like Sherri and William say, if you are a candidate for surgery, you should definitely consult a surgeon who is familiar with all the surgery options, and will be able to tell you whether or not you are a candidate for MIE. Those who specialize in this type of surgery will be at major cancer centers and will require full staging before they proceed.

    Yes, I've had a CT scan and
    Yes, I've had a CT scan and a Pet scan also the EGD with ultrasound to get the staging info and that's the staging I was told I was in.
    The PET scan showed no further cancer anywhere. Not sure what the CT showed but I was told clear.
