    Welcome to the Club
So here we are in a club that none of us want to be part of. Maybe one day soon cancer will get the hint and take a long walk off a short pier. Hey there Joe I am very sorry to hear about your wife and at such a young age. I too am stage 4 DX was 3/10 with mets to my liver and was told I had a 30-50% chance to see five years. I told my oncologist thanks but with GOD I have a 100% chance. I am kind of like your wife in that we are both so young and both parents to young children as I have 4 kids. Ages 18,13,4 and my little man who is almost 5 months old. So you are like my wife and I am sure it's got to be a hard place to be to see a loved one so very sick. This forum is wonderful as there are many people here that will give great advise and great support as you and your wife don't have to fight alone. She has some good things on her side already. AGE, SUPPORT FROM FAMILY & FRIENDS, OTHERWISE HEALTHY, GOOD ATTITUDE & MOST IMPORTANT GOD.... Years ago when you heard you had stage 4 it was back your bags your headed to meet your maker. This is not the case anymore as medical advances have come such a long way. I am not saying she is gonna be cured tomorrow but never give up faith and always fight, at least this is how I live my life. I thank God every single day that I am here with my family. Again welcome to the club and I look forward to seeing post on your wife. A good idea might be for her to get on board her self as this can be very supportive and help her to feel less stressed......

    Erin,

First off, your daughter is adorable!!!!

As for the genetic testing, we had that done prior to the start of chemo. Hence, why she is on FOLFOX + Avastin.

My wife and I just had this conversation today pertaining to our son and how he is going to be instrumental in her plight against this vicious disease! Luckily, he is such a wonderful and easy going kid. Sleeps all night, doesn't fuss unless he's hungry or tired and is fairly independent. All I can say is that God knew what he was doing!!!! Otherwise, I'm sure this would have been a lot harder than it is already going to be.

    Best wishes!

    Joe

Thanks! You have a beautiful family & you're right...your son will be the best medicine. Our daughter makes us both smile everyday and is my husband's inspiration. We continue to live life to the fullest and enjoy each day. By the way, you must have a great doctor if he was already on top of the genetic testing.
