Thanksgiving

I just wanted to wish all of my discussion board friends a peaceful Thanksgiving. We enter the holidays with such an absence and sadness. Surround yourself with loved ones, don't try to go it alone. Best wishes to all.

    Hi Becky,
    Thanks for the peaceful thanksgiving wishes. I will be spending thanksgiving for the first time without my husband. Will be at our daughters house and will have a hard time seeing the empty chair where Tom always sat. But for the kids and grandkids who I am so thankful I have, we all will have to be Thankful for having him here to love. We were married for 46 years and he was a great husband and father & grandfather. He was only 67 and taken too soon. But life goes on and we have alot of happy memories. Have a great Thanksgiving!     I have always loved and appreciated my children but truly realize how blessed I am to have them. Where would we be without our children.

    Thanks for the well wishes!!

    I have finally realized I need to surround myself with people. It is going to be hard enough that we are all not celebrating around mom's table.

    Yes, friends and family are the key. I am so thankful for my two sons, their families, and friends. Since I lost Doug before the holidays last year, I have been through this once. For me, the day after Thanksgiving proved to be the hardest. I went Black Friday shopping like I had for years. Yes, I am one of those crazy people. I always came home and shared with Doug all my good bargains and what I bought for each of the kids and grandkids. That he wasn't there to share that really hit me hard. Again it was the little things that I wasn't prepared for. I knew Thanksgiving would be hard, I wasn't prepared for Friday to be. Take care all. Cherish your family and friends. Don't try to be too strong. Fay

    Year #2 for you
    Hi Fay,
    Well it's year #2 for you already. This is the first year without my hubby so it's going to be hard. Wish I could sleep from now till the day after New Years. My daughter is having Thanksgiving at her house so that'll be good I guess. And We always had Christmas at our house, but this year I just couldn't have it so my daughter-in-law said she'd have it. What would we do without our kids, huh? They're going to miss him as much as me so we'll all shed tears together I guess. Take care!! (No Black Friday shopping for me!!)

    One holiday down...
    We made it through Thanksgiving. I missed my husband so very very much through the holiday. He was a Black Friday shopper, studied the flyers that came out on Thursday and was out and shopping early Friday morning. I missed seeing him leaving with flyers in hand and returning with his great bargains. Just can't wait to get these holidays behind me. My best to all.

    Glad we made it through Thanksgiving, now on to Christmas. I feel the same as you and can't wait till all the holidays are over. Even though I have 3 great kids, 2 daughter=in-laws & 3 grandsons, it still is going to be very hard. Don't even want to put our big tree up, and as far as outdoor decorations, forget it. Everyone always loved our outdoor stuff, but this year it's going to be "Black Christmas>" Some days I feel like I'm doing good and then I fall apart. Since it was just 8 months on the 25th, hope it's better next year at this time.
