We met the oncologist this am for my mom & gave her 3-6 months to live.
Lung cancer is now spread to her liver and bones. Mom is taking the news better than I am.

She will be 80 years old next week. She has gone through so much in the last 4 years.
Never had any chemo. They mentioned that palliative care is best for her now.
Will have care at home and a nearby hospital.

I feel very sad. I knew this was coming for a while now, but it's still hard to deal with. I believe that she is being strong for my Dad & I.

I will take care of my Mom until she decides it's time to go. I love her dearly & need to be strong for her and my Dad who will be left behind.

I am just sending you hugs and sympathy. I'm sure your mother appreciates you being there for her and your dad. Don't hesitate to contact hospice. They will help your family through this. The sooner you call the better. Fay

    Thank you
I met with her family MD today & gave me a lot of info & will help with things when it turns worst. I have wonderful support from my husband, & my 2 aunts, a cousing & my CSN friends.
Today was a better day for me, I went & bought her some comfy pj's & will go & spend the day with Mom tomorrow. Dad was doing the dishes today when I called her, I find that so sweet. Keep you posted

    Welcome
Hello Ella and welcome to you and your family to our caregivers discussion board. I was a caregiver for my dad. He passed away in March from esophageal cancer with mets to the liver. After going through this journey of cancer with my dad, I would suggest what your mom's drs. have. Palliative care will be the best thing for her. Keep her comfy in those new pjs and spend as much quality time as you can with her. Good for dad for helping out with the dishes, it means more to your mom than he knows! Take care and know we will be thinking of you all. Keep us up to date.
