First Xelox and third drain

Hi All,

I went for my first Xelox tx. I've never been so glad to take some pills as I was to take the Xeloda. My belly was huge again from the ascites, to the point the pressure was making me take vicodin, which I never do. I was glad to have it though. Any way, I had the cal/mag infusion and I think it helped the cold sensitivity. It's not really cold here yet, so I didn't even think about my hands. I didn't have any problems getting stuff out the fridge but I did notice later that cold liquids felt different but not harsh.

I went for a drain after chemo and the tech was so thorough. She rolled me this way and that, pushed on my belly and made use my deep breathing. She took her time and got 99% of the fluid out. I felt like myself again, really nice. We are hoping the chemo will get rid of the fluid or for now or at least reduce time between trips.

I'm sure the next few days Xelox will have something to say but I'm ready for it! Going every three weeks is really nice and no pump is good for me.

Catherine

PS. Craig, hang in there. You are almost done!

    Yay!
How well I know that relief, I am so glad the tech really worked it to get as much fluid out as possible! Just remember, the drain they have in there is very sharp, so you have to be careful of the organs; I didn't think about that and used to try and move around as much as possible to get as much fluid out as possible until one of the techs mentioned this fact! Of course, I was doing this without the help of a trained professional :). I sure pray the Xelox will do the trip in slowing the weeping of your tumor and that you have very little, if any, side effects! Keep fighting!

    Not the liver
The tumor on the ovary is the culprit. I have two liver mets at last screening on 11/5. I was hoping this drain would be the last because the chemo would deal with the fluid but I think I will have to go tomorrow for another.

    Hugs back to you,

You mean ovary is causing the ascitis?
I thought only gastrointestinal organs may cause it! but ofcourse your liver mets are too small to cause any problem!
    Hugs!
