More tests (again)
The transplant nurse said that the transplant board in Washington has "deferred" making a decision until they run at least 4 more tests, PET. CT, Bone Scan, and Heart Cath. Sounds like they are suspicious of mets, to me. Today I work all day, then drive to the hospital tonight because they are planning on keeping him over the weekend. A catered Thanksgiving is sounding pretty good to me. Or maybe we can skip the holidays this year and go directly to January 2?
Cancer sucks.

My Thoughts Are With You
Hey Penny
Just wanted to let you know you are not alone. I read your post and could feel your exhaustion. I guess Washington has to do what they have to do. Dotting all the I's and crossing all the T's. You will know soon enough. Get all the tests done and then you will know about the transplant. Nah....do not skip Thanksgiving. Have some kind of dinner with Mike. Enjoy any and all the time you have with him. Cherish each and everyone of these moments. You do not want to look back and regret any of this. Take it slow. One thing at a time, one day at a time. Take time for yourself as well. Mike needs you to stay healthy and strong. Praying for you both. Keep us up to date.

Agree
I agree with Tina. I don't know they are suspicious of mets so much as they have to confirm there are none.
Be reassured that they are also making sure he is strong enough at this time for the transplant.
The holidays will happen whether we participate or not but I do hope you find a few moments for quiet reflection, a nice dinner with Mike and some joyous peace.
Hugs to you, Penny. And, yes, cancer sucks big time.0 -

Thanks Tina and Noellesmom.
All of the tests have been completed in miraculous time (for the VA, anyway) and Mike will be home tomorrow. The cardiologist said he saw absolutely no heart problems, so that was really good news. We have to wait for the onc appointment on 12/7 to find out the rest of the results, but we were going to have to wait that long anyway before Washington deferred the decision.
I'm definately feeling more positive (and more rested LOL); I even took a step of faith and bought the darn turkey!
