Saundra is close to leaving
She is in her 16th day in the hospice inpatient unit, and has amazed all the nurses and her oncologist by hanging on this long. Since last Monday she has been heavily sedated to control intermittent spasms. All three of our children have visited while she was lucid and have said their goodbyes. I have also. She is very close to departing this life and beginning an amazing new journey. Our prayer is that she go peacefully and soon.
She loved her Survivors Network friends, who were (and are) a source of inspiration, hope, useful information, and encouragement. God bless you all!

Thank you for taking the time to update us - Saundra has been in our thoughts. Her strength continues to shine through, but as her time comes, I hope also for quick and peaceful passage. My prayers are with you as the survivors now suffer the most. Take care, Annie0 -

Unfortunately I never got to converse with Saundra , she has such a kind face, and I know the other ladies speak very highly of her on here.
I hope her passing is peaceful, sending you and your family a big hug at this difficult time xxxxx0 -

Joe,
this is a tough time for you and your famiy, and we so appreciate you checking in to let us know how Saundra is doing. I'm sad to think of her as leaving, but so relieved that she is not in pain and surrounded by her loving family. She will be flying with the rest of the angels soon, but we will miss her so much. She was a great inspiration.
Many blessings to you,

So sorry, Joe
Thank you for letting us know about Saundra.
I have been away from the site for quite a while, but was brought back from thinking about Saundra so much lately. I just came back to the site yesterday, and found out.
Saundra has been such an inspiration to all of us; and she always will be.
Please know that you and your family are all in my prayers.
Love,
~Susan xoxo0 -
THANK YOU, JOE. . .
For keeping us updated. We were all just posting about Saundra and some of our other 'sisters' several days ago. Saundra is strong, a fighter, a faithful child of God. He is bringing her the strength and peace that she needs for the time she has left to spend with her loving family. How wonderful that He is providing these final moments, keeping her somewhat alert, so that she may be with you. May He bless all of you during this very, very difficult time. And may Saundra enter into His arms peacefully.

Dear Joe
Thank you so much for updating us. I am sorry for your loss and want you to know that Saundra has been a true inspiration. She had a gift for encouraging people and lifting them up even when facing such a challenging situation as OVCA. I think this was given to her by God. I hope she's there for me when it's my time...maybe that is her new purpose to meet those who are coming into his arms who are scared and frightened. I don't know. I do know she was one of those rare people. God Bless you and your family at this time. Sincerely, Lisa0 -
Here's what she says in her profile and God bless her!
What else would you like to tell us?
I am 71 years old, retired, mother of three, grandmother of six.
My husband of 50 years is the love of my life and my best friend. I am so blessed. Keeping my list of gratitudes longer than my list of complaints keeps me focused.0 -
Both Pain and Joy
Joe: Your post is inspiring and heartfelt. I can feel the pain in your loss but the joy in knowing she will know true peace and happiness in your faith.
God Bless.
