New Here...Prayers Please

My fiance is 35y/o and has been diagnosed with stage VI stomach cancer. Hes being treated at a military facility. Before he was diagnosed with Cancer, him and I went on post to the on post ER and they told him he had swollen prostate and it will go away within 3 weeks. So they sent him home with Tylenol and some antibiotics. So when his pain gotten worse we decided to go to Brook Army Medical Center in San Antonio TX. in which they then discovered he had Gastric Cancer. Now hes just sitting in the hospital and has been for almost a month now with no answers. They say his immune system is too weak to start the chemo and surgery is not an option. All he does is take a bunch of Morphine shots and pills to keep him from vomiting a lot. Does anybody know other options I really want to refer him to a civilian facility but his mom is his taking care of him and I don't want to step on no toes. How long can he survive without the chemo, radiation (because have fluid on his stomach he cant get the radiation)<<<<<< how true is that?. I know the Lord is on our side, and all I can do is pray for his health and strength but is there anything I can do to help him become a survivor just like one of you? Please let me know

    Welcome to this discussion board. I was a caregiver for my dad. He passed away from esophageal cancer in March 10. The tumor was very close to his stomach, this is why I come to this board also. From what I have learned here in the past 2 years, is that the military facilities are not the best for treating cancer. There are wonderful cancer centers in Texas. MD Anderson in Houston is one of them. Another thing I have learned is that it is always best to get a second opinion. My dad's first opinion told him possibly 6 mos with treatment, the second opinion said we will treat this and beat it. He had chemo and radiation at UVA, went into remission for one year. In December it metastisized to his liver. Going from 6 mos to 16 mos is a huge difference to me! If you can....suggest to him and his mom the second opinion.
    Right now he has no quality of life. He is only 35!!! He has a lot more living to do. Do not give up. Keep your strong faith. Pray, pray, and pray some more. We will be praying also. Keep in touch. Hugs to all of you.

    My dad was diagnosed this May with Stomach cancer. I have a new admiration for families going thru any type of cancer treatments. I agree that md anderson is supposed to be a great hospital. My dad had a stint placed in his stomach area to allow food to travel into his stomach. the mass was blocking something and for a month, everything he ate came back up. It was a miracle that this doctor was able to go into the stomach and put in a stint.
    Very quick procedure. My dad was very weak because for a month , he and doctors just thought he had a stomach virus. Very important that you can get nutrition into his system and build up his immune system.
    I am a HUGE believer in food supplements.I cannot tell from your message if he is able tokeep capsules down but if he is, start getting them into his system.
    I trust Nutrilite food supplements.
    very important to look on line and get a list of what will build his system up. That helped my dad tremendously.
    and remember: there is always hope. We fired several doctors over their horrible attitude!!
    You have that right and power.
    and one of the main things is: He needs lots of prayers and getting into Gods word right now. that gives us hope!! Love me.

    I'm going to try and recommend chelation therapy for my mom. Cancerprotocal.com. From what I understand, it doesn't kill cancer, but stops its growth. Its much easier on the body than chemo or radiation. I do know one success story with it for intestinal cancer. Can't hurt to look into it.
