Peritoneal Cancer

Does any one have or knows anyone with Peritoneal type of cancer? Have not found anyone in my State (MA). My doctor says it is similar to OVCA. I have been getting most of my 411 on OVCA Cancer. I would like it if any one has more info on the Peritoneal Cancer. I am at stage 3 and have Lymphadema in my rt leg. Have finished my 6th chemo yesterday of taxol/carboplatin which I have every 21 days. I go for a Cat Scan later this month to see what is determimed. Thank you.

    I have PPC. Click on my picture & it will take you to my profile. I am stage 4 with fluid having gone around my lungs. I had same chemo as you and finished in March. I am well and my CA 125 is down to 34. My CT scan shows that almost all of my cells have gone but a few small ones remain. Also there are quite a few ladies here who post on the ovarian cancer boards, go look us up.

    PERTONEAL MESOTHELIOMA
    I probably mis-spelled that but my sister has been diagnosed with this. And, for goodness sake, it sounds BAD. She is going to see Dr. Sugarbaker soon. He is one of two docs in the US that does some sort of chemo/radiation "bath". Has anyone delt with him before? And, if so, how goes it for you now?

    We are all so frightened for my sister!!

    There are more than 2 drs in the world. I had appendix cancer, and this is commonly done for it, tho I didn't have the heated chemo in my belly, but had 5 rounds of unheated chemo in my belly post-op at Memorial Sloan Kettering. I know that they do the IP chemo for Mesothelioma in NYC.

    I've heard that Dr. Bartlett in Pittsburgh is also excellent for the heated chemo. Go onto the colorectal thread, and ask about HIPEC, which is what Dr. Sugarbaker does. While it's not done everywhere, there are probably a dozen excellent drs who do it.

    Good luck to your sister. I know that this is a rough diagnosis. Surgery and treatment will be hard, but hopefully, she'll have the success I've had.

    the only two in the US (United States) that we were able to find out about. And, I will go

    Another great Doctor is Dr. Richard Alexander at the University of Maryland Medical Center. My husband is going for surgery in December. He is a very compassionate and thorough doctor *(so far!). Best of luck in search. Erin

    My mom was diagnoised with
    My mom was diagnoised with peritonal cancer and this was about 3 years ago. when she was diagnoised I think she passed away within a year of it. I know she did have fluid around the lungs. I am so sad that i wasnt there when she passed away, at that time i was in birmingham al finishing school.
    i am now married which she would be so proud.
    my concern is though that it is genteic or heradatiry and that i have a chance of getting it.. i didn't know if you knew anything about that.

    My husband was and is truly the specimen of great health. To our knowledge there was no Colon or peritoneal cancer in his family. He is fortunate at this time that it is not in the lung, pancreas or spleen. There is now genetic testing that can see if you have a predisposition but do not know too many details. What is scary is that 3 of my great aunts had stomach and my grandmother had pancreatic so I am the one with the family history yet he has it! All of the GI related cancer give you a chance of having it so if you can get a colonoscopy before 45 (40 if a parent had it) that is strongly suggested. Hope you have good Thanksgiving.
