it may be helpful to go to
it may be helpful to go to the Ovarian Discussion board here on CSN as many ovarian late stage survivors have gone much further then their DR have mentioned to them with many members who support each other0 -

Just remember, none of us have an expiration date.
Hugs to you and mom....0 -
expiration date
I love that comment - "none of us have an expiration date".
You are right, although it is almost irresistible - you have read the internet statistics once and that is enough, Lisa.
Your mom is a unique individual about whom people can only make vague predictions at this point. I have known people who were given a week and were alive a year later.
Statistics are numbers: that is all they are. There is no soul attached to these numbers, Lisa, and no heart.
Try to remember what goes into these "statistics". They follow a small number of patients with a variable number of other issues, ranging from heart disease to alcoholism to high blood pressure. Some catch the flu, others get hit by a car and die from complications. Not all studies are worthwhile or report numbers that can be trusted. You've got to know what was behind the study, who funded the study, and the purpose of the study before you know if you have a good study to review. By that point, it doesn't even really matter because you have realized that life is nothing if not a variable so why try to predict it? You will gain much more knowledge by listening to a good doctor, trusting your mom's instincts and knowing your own heart.
Also, your mom is your mom. Her spirit and desire to fight are MORE than half the battle. Some people will make it through the holidays for their families: some people will decide they need to be out of the way for the holidays for their families.
You see how it works?
Hugs, Lisa, and prowl the internet no more than you have to gathering facts, not reviewing statistics. I know of no good cancer statistics but I know that somebody has to be in the part that survives longer than they say. Someone else doesn't make it as long as they say.
Quality, not quantity, please. That's a good goal to have.0 -
Outdated
A lot of the statistics on the Internet are outdated. Also each person reacts differently to treatments. The Internet said my husband had about 22 months and he made it for 6 years. Just cherish whatever time you have. Fay0 -
If you have Facebook there's
If you have Facebook there's an app on there called deaths time. They tell u when and how u will die its funny as hell. No one knows when they will die.everyone. is different if you don't believe me I challenge u to find me two stories that r exactly alike on this web site, because these are the faces behind those same statistics. The statistics told u u won't have much time with ur mom they told me I'd have more time with mine.0 -

Lisa I'm sorry your mom is going through this, heck I hate that anyone has to go through it.
13 months ago I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I realized that reading and researching about this dreaded disease brought me much fear. Fear also makes it difficult to hope, believe, and maintain your faith. No one can say for certain how much time any of us has left on earth. Please don't allow anger, and fear to rob you of your life.0 -

Thanks to you all....I will not read the internet any longer. I am focusing on x-mas...she wants hunter green towels for her new apartment...I am spending 3 weeks with her...that's good. Cancer sucks. Hugs to you all.0
