I was getting up this morning when my mom came to my door and said we have a flood. Evidently she had flushed the toilet, gone to sit in the living room and didn't know it was overflowing until the water reached the living room. We started throwing towels down but soon ran out. We got out the wet/dry vac but it was missing the attachment needed to vac up the water. I called a carpet cleaner who had recently cleaned my carpet and was referred to a man who deals in water damage. He immediately started talking about insurance claims and a cost of $10,000. I told him I just needed someone to come and clean up the water. We called a friend to borrow her wet/dry vac and called my cousin to help.
While everyone was scurrying around trying to get the mess cleaned up, I went into the kitchen, slipped on water and took a hard flop. Now I have only being feeling good for a few weeks after rigorous chemo. I don't know how but I hit my knees, left elbow, my bottom and wrenched my back. My mom came in crying hysterically because she felt it was her fault. I had to keep telling her I was fine (ouch!) so she would calm down. She had been at the ER twice during my illness due to anxiety and I didn't want that happening again. She finally calmed down. I sat on the floor awhile until I could get up on my own.
I am very sore with some bruising but my sense of humor is intact. I said I might look for a job as a stunt woman. This was my third fall during my illness. I don't know who would hire a 62-year old stuntwoman and who would I be doing stunts for?
Oh well if you don't laugh at life sometimes it will overwhelm you. I hope you ladies get a kick out of my morning.
Painfully yours,
Karen

epsom salt soak
I can't remember how I got bunged up, but a friend made me promise promise that I would not go to bed before soaking in a tub of epsom salts. I did, and now I'm a believer. Cheapo at any drug store, epsom salts are now front row first aid at my house. And I swear that arnica gel has worked wonders on mom's neck stiffness from chemo. You get it at heath food stores.
Hope somebody kisses your booboo. Hope you wanted us to laugh!0 -
Karen...I am the queen of
Karen...I am the queen of klutz. My husband once asked me what I wanted for our anniversary and I said I wanted to have my foot x-rayed. The day before, I had fallen on the front steps, trying to outrun the water sprinkler. (It was broken in 3 places.)
I once showed up at my neighbor's door, holding a bloody rag to the back of my head. "Don't laugh," I said, "just tell me if it needs stitches." I had raised up and hit my head on the edge of a cabinet door.
You're right....being able to laugh at yourself is a wonderful gift.

I'm glad you have your sense
I'm glad you have your sense of humor intact! I worry about people who can'tlaugh at themselves - cuz sh** will always happen. Yesterday my husband surprised me with an early Christmas gift - a garden rake. I said Thanks, haven't had one in years to get hit up the side of the head with. His response, well everyone should do it once, me: already ahead, I've done it twice! Lol.
But seriously, be careful, one set of aches and pains can lead to another.
