Mammograms and Implants... what to do???

What is your take on Mammograms after reconstruction with implants? I keep getting conflicting information from my docs. What are your Doctors saying??

    I had implants in place almost 10 yrs ago. My breast surgeon removed all breast tissue and was able to leave implants in. My implants are under muscle and since cancer didnt infect the muscle wall we left them. So to somewhat answer your question with another question...are your implants under the muscle? Always wondered. My surgeon says for me,no need for mammos. No breas t tissue. Im a little insucure about this. I had stage 3c er,pr+ and her2+. 18/20 nodes positive. Thinking Ima going to revisit my concern with onc also. Maybe you to and maybe we'll find out something. Katz

PEM outperforms MRI when differentiating between benign and cancerous lesions, reducing false positives and preventing unneccessary biopsies and/or surgeries. PEM provides more images than a mammogram yet fewer than an MRI, providing a more complete, accurate picture-yet one that is easier to interpret.

    PEM is a better tool for:
    early detection
    guided biopsy
    monitoring response to therapy
    monitoring for recurrence of disease

    Katz, My implants are under
    Katz, My implants are under my pec muscle too. My oncologist says yes to mamo, my plastic surg. says no, my breast specialist says its up to my oncologist and my internal med dr. says she is'nt sure what is best. Soooo I am very confused and also worried... I was stage 3 and had 13 positive nodes. Please let me know if you find an answer to this mystery. Good luck to you:)
