nancy591: Looks like we have scans planned roughly the same time; same fears (((hugs)))
Nancy, there's still lots of other treatment options for us. I sensed some discouragement in your post, worry. ((((Nancy)))). I agree; it's scary each time a chemo tried is not successful. I was soooo hoping I could stay on Doxil for a long time. 3 months ago Fox Chase Cancer Center recommended targeted radiation for me based on the last CT/PET I had before Doxil. We will revisit radiation if the situation hasn't changed too much on this upcoming CT/PET. And my oncologist said he was leaning towards Carboplatin for me next. We (You and I) still have a lot of options. Please try not to get too discouraged. We all have days of darkness and doubt and fear,..and then the sun shines again and we get on with living in the now! (((Nancy)))

Linda - Thanks and Help
Linda,
thanks for the upbeat attitude...I left my mother;s office visit yesterday with virtually no hope. The doctors did say that if the parps don't work, there are other options. I don't believe it. Maybe there are options, but are they truly viable? My mother's cancer has embedded in her liver. I hear that and think...it's over...She kind of feels that way too. Am I being so negative or realistic?? I read somewhere that fighting cancer was like playing chess against a master. That's how I felt yesterday...we thought we had been making the best moves and BAM...cancer makes one swift move and we felt chopped at the knees...my mother has had sores down her throat and black and blue feet and never complained. She deserved better than that outcome yesterday!!!!!!0 -

I have heard good
Lisa...
I have heard good things about PARPS. Here are just a couple of snippets from PARP trial results. Is your mom BRCA positive?
The study gave parp inhibitors in two doses: low and high and the parp inhibitors ovarian cancer tumor sizes were recorded. The overall response rate for this trial was one third of woman reporting positive responses when using a parp inhibitor. Of the women given a much higher dose over 60% reported clinical benefits.
“This is the first single agent trial to have demonstrated very encouraging activity of olaparib in high grade, non-BRCA, serous ovarian cancer,”0
