More chemo for me, Gemzar this time

My MD wants to start me on Gemzar next week. He said 3 weekly infusions, then one off. Wow, that little dance with NED was short! Well, maybe this drug will do the trick.

    I'm on gemzar/carbo and gemzar alternately one week after the other. It's working! Carbo/taxol and Doxil were keeping me steady, but the gemzar is lowering my counts. Here's to some great results for you.

    How are your side effects?
    How are your side effects? My MD told me they shouldn't be bad, that I can probably work throughout the treatments. I had 8 treatments of carbo/taxol that took me from over 1000 to 21. Now it's snuck back up to 314. I'm encouraged that the gemzar is working for you. Maybe it will for me too!

    side effects
    I found that I had less side effects with gemzar than carbo/taxol, but when it's combined with the carbo on week one, then I have to deal with the "metal" mouth that I get with carbo. I wouldn't be able to work and do this schedule, but they may be giving a less strong infusion over a few weeks? I had results after the first infusion and more each time, so here's keeping our fingers and toes crossed for us both!
