Ro,

Hi there! :)

I noticed in a recent post that you have an oncologist in IL and FL. I was curious if you live in FL or IL, and which is your main oncologist.

Do you have one oncologist that is particularly good that you go out of state to see?

Hugs and healing.

Cindy

Cindy, I spend 7 months in Illinois, and 5 months in Florida
We winter in Florida. I had my abnormal pap the end of October 2008 in IL. We opted to go to Florida for the surgery, as recovery would nicer in Florida than Illinois. Walking on the beach is much nicer than walking in the snow. We would of had to delay our trip to Florida if I had had my surgery up north. I would have actually had my surgery in St. Louis, Missouri, as that was the closest gyn/onocologist. I had my surgery in Florida by a gyn/onocologist. I went to Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa and I was able to have robotic surgery. That recovery was much nicer than the open hysterectomy. I was not familiar with robotic surgery for a hysterectomy before. I was able to start chemo 3 weeks after my surgery.

My onocologist in Illinois is a general onocologist, but she followed the recommendations of the Florida onocologist. I had my radiation treatments in Illinois, as it was time to go back to Illinois for the summer. Then I had my last 3 chemo after the radiation. We spend April - October in Illinois, and Nov. - March in Florida. I have been impressed with both cancer centers where I received my treatments. My Florida onocologist is open to getting treatment where I choose.

Hope that answers your questions. In peace and caring.

    Ro,

I am happy for you that you spend winters in FL. That must be very good for the soul.

Glad you cancer docs can all work together.
