Had "thrush". Onc. gave me a prescription and it cleard up. Now it seems to be back. Has anyone else had this happen? Still using the prescription. See the Onc. on Tuesday and will ask him about it then. Chemo #2 on Tuesday, dreading it; realize that this is the half way mark though. Two more to go. Should be done by Christmas with the Chemo.

    I have heard
I have heard of it happening to people who have posted on this site. I was fortunate that it did not happen to me. Talk to your Doctor, but I think the cure may be to change drugs or wait till you are done with chemo.

Sorry you are having this problem. seof

    Thrush
Will ask my Onc. about it tomorrow at my #2 Chemo session. Asking for prayers for courage and less side effects this time around.

    thrush
I had thrush 3 times wile on A/C. I had to refill my prescription to clear it up each time. I forget the name of it but it was an anti-fungal med. Take the meds because it can travel down your throat and that would be much worse. It happened to me and I could barely swallow.
It'll clear in a few days....take care and all the best to you. It'll be over before you know it!!

    I concur with the gargle
I would start gargling (wow, that really IS a word) on the day of chemo, and would do it for about 5 days after. I never had mouth problems....except the one time I forgot for a few days. Here's the secret: Get a pretty container (I used a vintage juice pitcher from the 50's), mix up the "recipe" (kinda like the Baldwin sisters' on "The Waltons"!) and set it in the bathroom, with some kind of cover (I used a wide-mouth canning jar lid) with plenty of paper cups. Every time you visit the bathroom, rinse your mouth with the recipe (I'll find it and post it tomorrow). Works like a charm.

Here's my guess on the recipe (it's been a looooong 2 days, most of it spent driving in the dark)
    1 quart water
    1 tsp salt
    1 tsp baking soda.

If that's wrong, the tsp. should be 1/2 tsp. Hope that helps. If I knew how to search for my old posts, I'd find it.
