This is Joe, Saundra's husband. Last night our two sons and I transferred Sandy to the hospice in-patient unit at Midland Memorial Hospital. She was ready for this after 27 days in the hospital. The home-like atmosphere, caring nurses, and accommodations for families made this an easy move. In fact, I had served on the hospice board several years ago, and felt like we were getting V.I.P. treatment, even though that's the way it is for everyone.

This morning I woke up and had a good cry, then got my act together. My heart goes out to all you ladies, and especially those who assist you on this journey.

Sandy has strong faith in God, a courage that is enormous, and a heart of a saint. Soon she will join several of her Survivors' Network sisters and celebrate a life well lived.

Joe

    GOD BLESS ALL OF YOU
    Joe:
My heart aches for you and your family. But I am so blessed when I read of Saundra's strong faith, her love for life and the Lord, and her family, as well as your strength and enormous love for Saundra. We have all been inspired by her caring, loving spirit, and by her presence and comments during our difficult times. I so wish I could be there to offer hugs and support during this very difficult time. So please know that my prayers continue that Saundra's journey to our Heavenly Father will be peaceful and pain-free, and that He will lift all of you up in strength and peace to endure what is ahead. God Bless all of you.

    Joe,

Thanks for your update. It is a rough road isn't it? But Praise the Lord you both have a strong Faith in Our Lord!

Jerry and I have talked too about our journey and with our children some. Not everyone has that chance to think ahead do they? ☺

Please tell Saundra that I love her and think of her often. I am so glad her name is etched in our Heavenly Father's hand.

    Love and prayers,
    Libby

    Dear Joe
First, I want to thank you for keeping us updated. This must be a difficult time for your family and the fact that you come here to inform us of Saundra's status is greatly appreciated.
Secondly, I would like to extend my condolences to you and your family at this time. I know you and Saundra shared a special relationship, and I cannot imagine how hard this must be for you. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
Finally, please know that Saundra was a very special lady. I will never ever forget her encouraging words to me when I joined the board. If it were not for her, I don't know how I would have coped with my mother's illness. I pray that God receives her and that Bonnie is right there next to HIM. It is indeed a sad day here on Earth, but they will be celebrating in heaven. God Bless You.

It has taken me a few days to digest
    your news.

Saundra, although I have never met you, I feel very close for many reasons, including your similar world view. Thank you for all your faithful contributions to this board. Your very real way of sharing your thoughts was so refreshing and encouraging. I am so happy for you that you are in a wonderful place, surrounded by family and friends. I pray that these next weeks/months will be peaceful, meaningful and you will be out of pain. I am going to miss you and also miss reading your posts.

    Take care my sister!

    I love you❥

    Hard for me.
Joe, I am so sorry to hear this. I, like Kathleen, had a rough time just digesting it. I went out yesterday with some friends and all I could talk about was Saundra. I hardly know her. I haven't been on here that long but I would see her posts and she is just so uplifting and strong. I am praying for both of you.

    update
    Joe,
Thank you for the update. I know this must be a difficult time for you and your family. My well wishes to all of you. I remember Saundra as being supportive, knowledgeable and so nice. Her input is sorely missed. I hate to think of her being at this point but I do hope she and her family find peace. WIshing her painfree days. Tell her we think about her and are with her in spirit. When another warrior dies I think a piece of us all die with that person.

    XOXOXOXO

    rustling of angel wings
After such a long and courageous struggle, the rustling of angel wings is a sweet, sweet sound. My mother and I have talked about what it will be like when the pain is over. She says it won't be hard for her to say goodbye when the time comes for her to be with the Father. Blessings to you on this journey.
