Been a LONG time.
Haven't checked in for a long time. I'm having my four year checkup November 15th. Diagnosed with stage III rectal cancer September 2006. Did chemo/radiation, surgery, then FOLFOX and Avastin for 8 rounds. With the exception of some depression, weight gain, and a divorce I have been good.
My Aunt Paula was diagnosed two weeks ago with Stage IV rectal cancer. Hopefully she will be joining this group shortly. I know it was a Godsend for me.

Welcome
Welcome back. So glad to hear that your results have been great and you are doing good. Without the exceptions of course. Sorry to hear about your Aunt. The more people that seek out this board for help the better they will feel. Don't stay away so long next time. Once again, welcome.

Other then
Other then life's normal happenings, it sounds like you have been doing good.
It's always great to see a long term survivor on board, to give us "newbies" hope and something to look forward to. So I thank you for coming on, coming back, and giving us this hope.
I hope your Aunt Paula finds us, so sorry about her diagnosis, but glad she had you to help her through some of the hard parts, and we're here for her as well.
If she knocks on our door, we will open the door in a heartbeat, hands, arms and heart open to welcome her.

Hi Kiersten
I'm rather new here but wanted to say thank you for checking in. Also, there is a new board here called long term survivors that you might be interested in. It was just started to help address some of the issues that some of us newer diagnosed might not have. I don't know if that might interest you but, I wanted to let you know about it.
Also, please let your Aunt Paula know that we are sorry to hear of her diagnosis but,we are here with open arms if she needs us.0 -

It sounds as though life has renewed itself in you...Good for you . It sure is great to hear all of you that return and are doing so well. It gets a large crowd to gather when someone pops in with a 3-4-5-6-7-13 year all clear so far prognosis...attitudes start to change in some that had none. You get to see that kind of sparkle in others eyes as you and others speak of longevity with this disease..Love to you and in hopes of decades of living large......thanks Kiersten, you opened more eyes and given more hope than you could ever imagine coming back to tell your story.........((((((((Kiersten))))))))..........Buzz0 -
Thank you Kiersten!
Thanks for checking in here + giving us inspiration on this Halloween Day! Stories like yours really help me in this battle. I am sorry for your divorce, + for your aunt's diagnosis. I bet you are be a huge help + inspiration for her. I hope you will come by to visit again soon.0 -
hello
Hi Kiersten,
I remember you! It's good to hear from you and see a familiar face again & I'm glad to hear that you've been doing well physically. I hope and pray everything on Nov. 15 goes well. Sorry to hear about the depression and divorce.
Sorry, also, to hear about your aunt's diagnosis. As you said, I do hope she finds her way to this board. I never can understand why some people are hesitant to join it. I have recommended it and mentioned it many times to a few people I know with colorectal cancer, but they haven't joined it. I guess being on the computer isn't everyone's thing.
See you around-
