That's the name of the procedure I am having done tomorrow morning. It will, hopefully, relieve the hand pain I have been dealing with for the last two months. I can hardly wait....for my hand to stop hurting, that is.

    Update
    The hand surgery went well. I was home by 1PM and it hurts, as it was before, BUT the up-side is that after it heals, no more pain in my hand! Yea!

    Two surgeries down and two to go. The site where they removed my port looks great . Hoping the new one can be placed next week.

    What type of pain?
    Hi Carlene,

    What type of pain were you having in your hands? Like rheumatoid? Bones, joints, or muscles? I've been having pain in all my joints -- from neck too arms, elbos, fingers, wrists, all the way to my toes. Just curious. I'm glad the surguery was successful and that you will be feeling better soon.

    Sorry if I have misspellings. It's late at night and I don't have my glasses on either! Didn't want to wake my hubby up to find them. :-)

    I'm finally off chemo after 1 year and 9 months. Eight weeks away from chemo has been a God-send. My husband says he has me back. I've had so much energy except for the crazy pain. I had a bone scan to see if the cancer had spread to my bones, but it hadn't. Yes!

    They are saying my disease is stable. They won't call it remission. But I'll take stable for sure.

    Out of curiosity, can you tell about what type of pain you were having? I am not familiar with the procedure and is the pain related to our form of cancer?

    Forgive me if I seem a bit dense about it all, but when you get an opportunity I would love to know before my curiosity gets the best of me! LOL!

    I had what is known as
    I had what is known as "Trigger Thumb". The real name is DeQuervains Disease. (Here's a link to a better explaination....http://my.clevelandclinic.org/disorders/trigger_finger/hic_trigger_finger_and_dequervains_disease.aspx).

    I don't think it's related to the Cancer, just lousy timing. It's sometimes called "Mother's hand" because moms with new babies are prone to it, due to the repetitive motion of picking up a newborn a hundred times a day. My "new baby", however, is 36 years old, so I don't think that was the case with mine.

    It happens when one or both (both, in my case) of the tendons that run down the arm and into each digit becomes inflamed. There is a sheath that surrounds those tendons, so if they start swelling, they become entrapped and it really HURTS.

    Sometimes the thumb/finger will "catch" and "pop" (mine didn't), hence the term "trigger finger".

    There is a simple test to determine if it's Trigger Thumb. The pain was at the base of my thumb, but not in the joint.

    My PCP mucked around for two months, giving me anti-inflammatory drugs and steroids, but they did no good at all. He finally sent me to an orthopedist for cortisone shots, but the ortho said I needed surgery.

    It felt better immediately. The post-surgical pain was not nearly as bad as the pain from the condition itself.
