That was a tough dayKathiM said:Aw, Anne....I LOVE being on YOUR list!!!!
Thank you, dearheart, for all of your wonderful words!!!!
Today was a wierd day, the day I transfered my mom to a retirement community. "Ripping her out of her home of 50 years!" according to my beau's son...sigh...I had a bad case of the guilties...
BUT, as of this evening, after just 12 hours, my mom is saying that it was the BEST decision she ever made!!! We spent the last 3 days moving all of her things, and setting everything up, so all she had to do today was step in and start living (she has all of her favorite furniture, pictures on the walls, nightie laid out on the bed....). She has her own place, 3 full meals and 2 snacks every day, and a group of people to keep her happy, whatever she needs!!!
I am now smiling from ear to ear!!!
Hugs, Kathi
I think I understand what you went through today. Years ago my mother-in-law needed to go into a home. This was one of the toughest days of my husband's life, + also tough for me too. She decided she couldn't live on her own anymore, but it was still very tough. She adapted to her new home very quickly + we knew she would get the care she needed. There is usually quite a lot of social life at these places too! You did a good thing. It is hard to move from one's home after 50 years I am sure but it sounds like she is in a good spot now. Good job - it will get easier!
Hugs right back to you!0 -

Yes, it WAS a hard day...but, as your mom-in-law, my mom had decided the same about living alone.
I had more emotional scaring from my beau and his son, with unkind comments to my daughter and to myself, than from anyone else! When I had had ENOUGH, I turned to my beau and said "Well, if you were the same, I would do the same to you! So, I suggest you find another girlfriend if you don't like this!!!!" And to his son: "If I did this with your dad, and you blocked it, be prepared to live with him yourself, because I would be leaving IMMEDIATELY!". And, yes, it IS "If you don't play my way, I will take my ball and go home!!!!". That shut them BOTH up!!!!
(And I felt ever so much better! IDIOTS!).

You can come visit!
And, you, too, can have a fabulous life, it just means making up your mind!!!
I will say, that it's hard work. BUT, having moved my mom now into a far safer place, I know where I will go when my beau dies, to the same place (or a similar one!!!!).
Hugs, Kathi

The very first person I saw when I came here 2 1/2 years ago...resilient, 2 cancers and surviving them , no, living fruitfully through them, and still able to meet with a grin someone lost as I was. You are so very vibrant that It never dawned on me as I sure it doesn't for a lot of people, that although you are very tough individual, that you also have spots that hurt, and not physical pain but emotional pain. I have not done my part as part of this place to go back and really say thanks to the people that got me over the hump, and now the ones that are keeping me there. You along with all the "Patron Cancer Surviving Saints" will always be in my special place. I love and appreciate all of you, I will always remember that face, the one you had up just a few days ago. It was the first I saw here, and the smile eased me to where I thought,"I just may have a chance at life after all" .......Thank you and much love to you.......you were my start at a new life and I will be forever grateful...Love to you........Clift0 -

You have always been there with the inspiration and an encouragement to everyone. One of these days I'm going to stow away in one of your luggages because your life seems so exciting. Loved the cow picture too. Thanks for being such a great support on the board and please don't go away you WOULD be missed.

Congrats on doing the "right thing" for your Mom. After meeting you in Fort Worth, it is very clear just how much you truly care about her. God bless...and GO FIND THAT COWBOY!!
