Tumor on Left side? Not there, it's on right side
Well, there isn't a tumor on the LEFT side, it's on the right side, I even saw it on the TV screen and got to touch "it" (well, I touched the tv screen) and asked is that my tumor, and they said yes. Since February 3 CT Scans, and they always said on left side, even had a different radiologist read it, and it was on left side, but apparently was scar tissue.
I'm just wondering why they couldn't see it on right side. Anyone have this happen?
Also they found only one polyup and sent that off for biopsy. I was afraid there would be a lot more.
So I'm guessing the tumor being close the the small intestine and not in the sigmoid next to the rectum, that is a good thing? I won't know for a few days, until I see surgeons, so any been there had thats, please respond!!!

Right side tumor
I had right side tumor.Had the ascending colon removed.Never had them mix up sides that I am aware of, but had plenty of other 'mistakes' happen....which is why I try to stay awake and aware through as many procedures as I can.
I'll be waiting to hear your surgeon's suggestions.

Colonoscopy
Whenever they give that sleepy, dreamy stuff to me it never ever works. I'm always wide awake and even tell them why bother because it doesn't work. Maybe it's a kickback for the hospitals LOL. Never had a mixup on where my tumor was located but mine was very low in the rectum, therefore when they did my initial surgery they removed my rectum and gave me a temporary ileostomy but saved my sphincter muscle. On the polyps, they usually always send them for biopsy that is pretty normal. Even if the tumor is in the rectum, they can still make a j-pouch for you in replace of a rectum. You will be fine. Keep us posted. Thanks for the update.

Mine was on the right side. They took out 11". I was just glad it was as far away from my buttholio as possible. I have a deep fear of a bag. Keep us updated on results. Take care.

I'm a lefty
I've not had that happen. It seems a bit strange that they were pegging the tumor on the wrong side!
My tumor was a sigmoid tumor, but I was Stage 1, so I'm curious why it would be a good thing if it was on the right side as opposed to the left. Didn't know there was a better side in this?
*hugs*

that a tumor on the left side would more or less be around the descending colon, sigmoid and then the rectum, rectal margins would dictate if a permanent bag was opted for or not....the right side would be the ascending colon and be closer to being an illeostomy than a right sided colonostomy. Then there is always the transverse colon at the top between the ascending and descending. Location and margins are the key........

Hey Clift if you ever just stated that to a lay person they would have no clue what you were talking about. Funny how us colon people know. We have many phrases that are too weird
