hearing loss from radiation

Hi -Looking for people that have had rads to the head that have suffered hearing loss. I am 5 mths post cancer treatments. I had Ewings sarcoma base skull which reqired chemo and ended with 35 radiation treatments. I was told I could have problems with my ear but permenent hearing loss was not mentioned. I hear a little but the ear feels plugged all the time. I did have a myringotomy tube surgical done for drainage but the hearing is still gone. I am frustrated and hoping it is something i will get used to. Anyone tht can relate please let me know....my oncologist tells me my ear is still healing and hearing could return.

    I have hearing loss in both ears but worse in the left ear for some reason. I too had the tubes installed to drain fluid but did not help me hear any better. Your oncol doc is correct it will be a while before you know how much of your hearing will returned. I worked around big Engines all my life so that accounted for some of my hearing loss.

    I am eight month's post treatment& my hearing in my left ear is gone. I do know it was from the Chemo cisplatin & waited but still not improved. I am waiting for my ENT to come back from medical leave as he mentioned a micro chip may help. I shall keep you posted.

    Thanks for commenting at least it is normal. it is vey annoying but at least i am still here. I have never heard of the micro chip...any info would be greatly appreciated.

    I shall keep you posted regarding the micro chip.My ENT is super at answering any question's. However, he is on leave & upon his return I definitly will find out more.
