Prep for my Colonoscopy
I was only able to drink 3 small glasses of prep for my major surgery. My surgeon said not to worry about it.
Now my 2nd Colonoscopy is coming up in December and I told them about the problems with the prep.
Of course, they said that is the only way to clean for a Colonoscopy. Hummm
You guys and girls have any suggestions?
Mickey

Hi, I was told by a nurse
Hi, I was told by a nurse when I was prepping for my surgery that I needed to drink another horrible drink and she said make it really cold and use a straw. I guess it doesn't touch your mouth as much! Might be worth a try! Jean0 -
Hi Mickey
On tuesday I front up for scope no 13 (bad number) I had trouble with scope no 2 . It was in the middle of chemo and I threw up for two days ,I would get one glass down and the second would bounce them both up again. They gave me a fleet prep ,where you drink a glass full of noxious substance followed by nine big glasses of water over the next hour or two. This is repeated early on the morning of the scope. It didn't matter what I did I must have a face that cries "please give me several enemas" because they always obliged. My last two scopes I had epsom salt caps (about seventy of them) I reckon they nearly poisoned me and did very little in the way of clering me out. The result of my last scope was an ambiguous "no large lesions found" whatever that means . This time they are putting me into hospital for the prep. It will be the three litres of levarge and they are standing by with anti-nausea wafers . They will not let me near a fleet prep ever again as it appears to have severely damaged my kidneys. The difference between normal and fleet prep is that the normal washes out the colon ,the fleet works by osmossis it actually draws fluid into the colon from the tissue and can cause serious dehydration thus causing kidney filter damage. SSSoooo as much as I hate to say it the three litres of dishwash solution is the best and safest way to go. I feel for you cos I am in the same boat. Best of luck to us both .Ron.0 -

new prep
Hi Mickey, my new gastro had me take four Ducolax at noon and then at 1:00 put 258 grams of Miralax in 64 ounces of Gatorade (nothing red colored) and drink 8 ounces every 15 minutes til it was gone. No icky taste. Not thick. Tasted just like Gatorade. No gas, no cramps, no icky tummy and it worked well and quickly.0 -
Prep
Tuesday I had to do prep. I had to drink magnesium citrate. I numb my mouth, tongue, throat with oral jel first. I mixed some crystal lite lemonade in with the magnesium citrate. I put ice in it and drank through a straw, still could taste it some but got it down. Have something right beside to chase it down with. Then I brush my teeth right after to get the taste out of my mouth. I made it thru the prep and my colonoscopy was all clear. I am 3 years cancer free.0 -
