Osteosarcoma Endoprosthesis - Experiences?

My son is 11 years old and recently diagnosed with Osteosarcoma in his left tibia. He has gone through the initial chemo treatments and now looking at limb salvage. Have decided against allograft bone transplant due to close proximity of tumor. Looking at endoprosthesis and wondering if anyone out there can share their experience in terms of functional outcome.
Thank you!

osteosarcoma info
dear v,
i just read your post about your 11 year old son. my son has just finished treatment for osteo, but had his tumor in a different location, so i don't have any specific info for you regarding endoprosthesis. but i did want to let you know about a listserve that deals exclusively with osteosarcoma. it is on ACOR, which has subgroups of all different types of cancer. there are a few hundred people on the list, mostly parents of children who have or had osteo, many who have had endoprosthesis. you can post your questions there and get a good response. there is a wealth of information and support there. it has helped our family tremendously.
take good care,
