Small Cell Treatment Options?
My father, a super healthy 70 year old, was just diagnosed with Small Cell Carcinoma of the prostate. From what I am learning this is rarely seen in the prostate, and behaves similarly to Small Cell in the lungs, so I am trying to figure out where folks are going for SCLC treatment? Are there any real experts? Any promising clinical trials? Favorite treatment centers? What has worked for people?
My father lives in California (bay area) and I live in Portland, Oregon, but of course we will go anywhere for help.
Thanks,
Kelly

small cell
Hi Kelly, if it is similair to sclc of the lungs, it is an aggressive cancer and usually is treated as such. I had Cisplatin and Eptoside and radiation and they knocked that sucker right out of me! I believe the dosages are determined upon the overall health of the peron...I don't live on the West Coast but good luck!

Small Cell treatment options
Hi Kelly, I'm sorry to hear about your dad. I do not live of the west coast but you may want to check out the cancer center website. They have 4 locations - the closest ones to CA are AZ and OK. they also have a 24/7 chat line. Good luck. Keep your spirits up! Shelby560 -

Hi, Shelby,
Are you talking about the Cancer Treatment Centers of America? From what I hear, they're fine IF you have the right insurance or a very large bank account. If a person wants to go there to be pampered and massaged, that's great, but the best medical care will be found in the top hospitals for cancer on this list.0
