This week my husband and I took a mini trip to Sikeston Mi home of Lambert's cafe , Throw rolls! We went to a little town called Manila Ar stopped at the high school (elem first) they let us look at the old new papers that they had . I was hoping to find a picture or anything about my family. My husband took one big book I took another as we looked I found nothing. Greg said I found this and he started reading I am like "no way" I though he was kidding. There on the front page 1956 a picture of me age 4 . I had just got my second shot for Polio. Amazing little story! I this he was more excited than I was.
We went back to our hotel .Two of my brothers showed up we took them to Lamberts , where we had the best time. Greg laughted and for a little while life was good again. I jsut watched him, I was smiling from ear to ear.
Strange a few years ago this would have just been a vacation not much to write about. Now it is a a memory of a good time. Greg and I shared with family.
Day by day we get thru things the best way we can .
Just wanted to share.

    What a nice mini vacation.
What a nice mini vacation. Believe it or not, my husband was born in Sikeston. When I read that I started yelling for him to come in here. There was some story on 60 minutes or one of those shows about the place where they throw biscuits or whatever, and he was so excited because it was where he is from. He actually drove his Dad up there a few years ago to see his Dad's brothers. They hadn't seen each other in a really long time. They didn't make it to the "roll throwing" place but had a nice visit anyway.
I'm so glad you all enjoyed yourselves. I too take pleasure in seeing my Mom laughing or smiling. I cherish those moments.
Just wanted to share back at ya :)

    My husband was on business
My husband was on business in that part of the country a few years ago and came home telling everyone about Lamberts and the throwing of the biscuits. I enjoyed your story, i.e. memory making times.

    Trying
We are trying everyday to keep it real . Cancer is not a family but it goes everywhere with us. So there are some little times we have a moment that we forget it is there. These moments are the ones we are trying to hold on to. It shows we are still human, sound times we feel like we are so feeled with pain, fear and guilt all these horrid things.
but we can take back little parts of our life. Oh lanudry is calling me now!
The throw rolls are the best part of the trip and having some family meet us there. and the Yeast Rolls!! The people coming around to the table with black eyed peas, fried taters, Hold your hand up and a roll will come flying across the room.

    Sounds Like Fun
Bob and I had our first post surgery outing on Saturday. We drove 1.5 hours to our favorite casino, stayed a couple of hours and came home. He ate his "lunch" via the feeding tube in the car when we got there and that went fine. He was exhausted Sat evening when we got home - but we both enjoyed it although of course I was a nervous wreck!

It was so good to feel like we were doing something "normal" though, other than sitting around giving/taking medicine, worrying, going to doctor, etc.....

I pray some day we will have some semblance of a normal life, even if it is not exactly like it used to be.
