Info on Good/Recommended Specialists

My father-in-law was diagnosed last Friday with EC. He has not been able to see his oncologist yet. He will have his first appt on Monday. We would like to find out who some good specialists are and try to get him in to a specialist as soon as possible. He is only 51 yrs. old, and we are very hopeful that he will make it through this with the right doctor. We welcome any suggestions that you may have!

    Welcome to our ec family. You need to give us more information. When was He diagnosed?What stage is he in? What part of the country do you live? I received my treatment local, but a lot of patients have to travel distances to get specialized care. We have people on here who know a lot about different specialist and if they don't know, they can help you find one? Please let us know as much as you can,

    It all started when he found
    It all started when he found two blood clots...one in each leg. He then started throwing up blood so we took him to the hospital. Once at the hospital, they did several tests and decided to put a screen him in his abdomen to keep the clots from moving upwards. After that, he did a upper GI CT scan. On the scan, it showed the tumor on this esophagus. He then has the endoscopy done, where a biopsy was taken of the tumor. They followed that was another CT scan of his lower body. On the lower CT scan, spots were found on his liver, but they did not biopsy them. The dr said that he didn't need to biopsy them, but that he "assumed" the cancer had spread there also. When the doctors came in last friday, they allowed my father-in-law to go home but first they gave us the dreaded news. They told us that he had esophageal cancer (adenocarcenoma) and that they believed it to be fairly advanced. No staging has been given at this point.
