Hello Again

Hello to all,

I was diagnosis with cancer on the rt tonsil on 9-24-10. On 10-05-10 I had both my tonsil removed. The doctor was able to get good margins. I had just got the pathology report which show the left tonsil had a small cancer tumor. This did not show up on any of the ct and pet scans. The Ent says this is a good fine and no to be worried. The cause of the cancer is hpv16. The doctor said this is very treatable. On Friday is when I fine out what the next step is for treatment. Is normal to still think the worst because of the undectected cancer. I know I will beat this, but scared that my mind still goes to the dark side.

    That darn "not knowing"
    It can torture ya.

    I think it always happens - but do NOT drive yourself totally crazy. Just wait to see what the DOCTOR has to say. (You know - that expert guy/gal)

    "Good Margins" sounds good, though. I believe it's only natural to focus on the negative from time to time - as long as it's only from time to time. Glad you know you'll come out on top - that's a good part of the fight. Keep it up. Let us know what docs say on Friday.

    Good news is they are having huge success when linked to hpv. That along with good margins. That makes two positive items to build on.

    I learned, heard and now use all the time is..... What? So What! Now What? this has helped me deal with and fight off difficult times.

    Please let us know the outcome of your meeting with doctor.

    Mike, Just want to wish you the best for your meeting with the doctors on Friday. It is very encouraging that they were able to get good margins and the cause is hpv as I've heard from many on this site that that's a good thing.

    It takes time but your mind will eventually spend less and less time on the dark side. You will do well and you will beat this.
