Just found out that I may have one or two teeth that have external resortion. Anyone else deal with this? The treatment is usually to extract the teeth so that means for oxygen treatments for me. And if anyone else has had this what did your dentist do? And is this caused from my radiation treatments I had 10 years ago? I'm only 31 and I feel like my teeth are falling apart. Thank you
Linda

    Hi Linda

I am in the same boat, my teeth are having a lot of problems on top of that I can’t open my jaw more then ½ inch because of having radiation twice. But the doctors at MD Anderson are hopeful that they can do a full restoration of all my teeth so I will not need any HOBT

    hey
What are they doing for the full restoration? My endodontist (spelled wrong) just saw my xrays and think that a root canal will save that tooth. But I have have pains on different teeth. I just feel like they are all eventually going to go bad. I need to find a dentist who has worked with people with radiation to the mouth but I don't think there are any around salt lake city, UT.
best wishes and I hope you have good dental insurance.

    Teeth
Linda, I am 14 years plus now and have spent more on my teeth trying to keep them than my treatments cost. Every day I have different pains in different locations. Every year my teeth are getting worse. Back in may I had to have two teeth pulled as it was the only options. Now those pot holes as I call them are barely covered over. I can not say what is going to happen but I do feel at some point no matter what we continue to do to save them they all will have to be remove. The dry mouth is just not good for the teeth.

I go to Indiana University for my dental care. I believe the schools have the most updated information. My dentist work with many radiation survivors.

BTW I did not have HBO, they gave me an antibiotic for 30 days. The thought here was to she how it heals. Slow but I do not believe HBO would have help. 2 years ago I had HBO treatments, expensive but not hard to do.

no dental insurance for me, oh well

    hey firsrrpotpe
Sorry to hear about your teeth troubles. I wish I would've pulled all my teeth before the treatments and then got great new white ones when I was done and be done with it. Dentists are so frustrating and I would love to work with one who works with radiation patients, The HBO treatments thankfully did work for me because I actually had one bone get pushed out by my body but because of the treatments the skin healed over it. They are easy but so time consuming and I don't live near family so finding someone to take care of my toddler was a headache. I hope you don't have to lose your teeth and that they find some way to save them. Take care
    Linda
