neuroendocrine Cancer Larynx

Doe's anyone else here have this kind of cancer. I have read and read and never find this sort of cancer on here. I also see everyone knows their treatments and I know very little. My cancer is stage III, maybe II, as U of M says their is movement of my vocal cords, which put it into a different stage group. I should be all the paper work from everyone and try to put it together. The rest of if is M0 T0, if those are the correct initials. My chemo is Carboplatin (Paraplatin) every 21 days. VP_167-213 (Etoposide) for three days every 21 days. I have no idea what the radiation is, it is very very short. Eight minutes of imagaing and less than 60 seconds of radiation. I was told yesterdaay that in 5 wks a boost is planned, and hopefully they will beable to go thru with that???? My radation is in a Vortex machine(Spelling?) This thing is but easy, I have a mask, but it just fits snug, and the machine rotates twice, and I am out the door. They cut holes in the mask eyes, nose, mouth, etc. Its nothing compared to what I heard about it. The whole experience there is less than 10 minutes from entering the door to going home. That fast and easy. No time for music, just to fast. Can anyone help me ? Anybody anywhere close to mine and what did they do for you? Feeling pretty alone here.........................denise

    I had cancer of the larynx late 2 early stage 3, did not have anything like you describe, The rad machine was a vortex I think and I had 3 shots of cistplatin. Rads were about 20 minutes total time. Got rid of the cancer, at least to this point, finished treatment in June 2009.

    Oh Goodness
    That is wonderful news, I wonder why you had shots rather than the treatment. Yours sounds sort of like mine, mine is 2cm ??? is that right, its size 2 . Which they said was big enough to put a trache in, even thru I had no problems eating or breathing. Hoarseness too me to the dr for two months before they sent me to an ENT. I am glad you finished treatment and all is well for you, all the best. Thanks for the support, hope I have as good as luck. I see your in a band? How it is going for you? A friend of mine has been a basement band as far as I can remember, too bad as they are very good. denise

    Denise, in May '09 I was diagnosed with NSCLC in left lung and SCC Supraglottic Carcinoma of the larynx, staged T3N0M0 and received Cisplatin twice weekly in 3 week cycles plus 35 sessions of radiation. Our diagnosis and treatments sound quite similar and I'm happy to say that I am now 1 year post treatment for both cancers (had a different type of radiation treatment for the lung cancer) and I'm still doing great.

    Cancer is not only scary it also makes so many of us feel isolated and alone. Coming to this site and reading the posts from other survivors has helped me through the emotional roller coaster I was on throughout my treatment.

    Please come here often and post any questions or concerns you have or just vent if you are having a really bad day. You are not alone, we are all here to help you through this.

    Hi, when I said that I had 3 shots of cistplatin I should have said infusions, taken in through IV. The picture of my profile was taken a long time ago. I am retired now. I did not have a trache, it was never mentioned, just the rads and chemo. Denis
