Hey everyone - hopes this finds all of you in good spirits!

I was scheduled for a PET scan last week but insurance refused payment so I had a CT instead. CT scan results showed nothing in the liver and nothing in the pleura. Good news. I will be rescanned at the end of December. Not sure if that will be PET or CT. Mixed feelings about which is the most conclusive, but will just go with the flow. Still feeling a lot of fatigue post chemo, find this very frustrating. My Mom says it is because I refuse to slow down and I suppose she is right. I made two trips to north Florida ten days after my last chemo to be with my best friend (the one that accompanied me to MD Anderson) as her father was at a hospice facility following a bad fall. He suffered a subdural hematoma and never really regained full conciousness. I spent two days sitting with her. He passed away six days later and I returned for the services. It was really hard to see her suffering so. She was truly a Daddy's girl. Her Mom is at a ALF suffering with dementia, so sad. On a happier note, I attended a rockin' bachelorette lingerie party last weekend and had a great time. The wedding is this weekend and I am so looking forward to it. It will be lakeside at 5:00 pm. With the cooler temperatures we are experiencing, it should be lovely.

Focusing on the bright spots and feeling very grateful to be well enough to enjoy the pleasantries of my life. Thanking God for my blessings.

Take care and hugs to all,
Joanne

Hi Joanne, I'm so sorry about your friends father and mother. Your a good friend to have been there for her. When I went throught the VATS procedure my sister flew down to be with me. Although she didn't really have to do to much to help me, just the fact that she was here with me made all the difference in the world.

I am so happy with your scan results, it is just the best news ever. I always have to be precertified for the pets and my oncologist has to justify the pet over the ct every time. I would imagine that your doctors are comfortable with the cts as they show clearly what is going on in there. As I had the 11mm lung nodule and the ct showed it at 11mms and when it came out it was 11mm so that gives me confidence in the ct scans.

Have a great time at the wedding, as you know I live in the same area as you, and the weather has just been beautiful, no humidity.

Thank you so much for the information about the size of your nodule being consistent with how it appeared on the CT. That makes me feel much more confident of the CT accuracy. I suppose since I just had a PET six weeks prior to the request for this last one, the insurance company just would not go for it. The funny thing is that MD Anderson had sent me confirmation of a follow-up appointment with Dr. Eng and it was to follow a CT at their facility. I was actually going to call my Onc and ask why they were planning to PET instead of CT when I got the call from Moffitt that they were going to CT instead of PET. (Geez, that was confusing) So perhaps it was just suppose to turn out that way. I cancelled the appointment with MD Anderson. I feel confident that Moffitt is on the same page and do not feel the expense of another trip to Houston is necessary.

You are right about the weather, no humidity!!! I have to laugh as that would really be important if I had my hair...with a wig all days are good hair days!!! I will be getting some two-sided tape though as I had a hysterical incident of it flying off in the parking lot the other day. You just gotta laugh!

    Smiles,
    Joanne

    I'm so happy for you!
    Hi Joanne!

Congratulations on your great scan results! I have been thinking of you and wondering how things were going. It sounds like you are doing quite well and I'm so happy to hear that. Currently, I am the middle of a battle with my ins. co. over a PET scan that they gave me approval to have, but now are questioning the medical necessity of it. It's really stressing me out. Sometimes I wish my doctor would just start ordering CT scans for me so I wouldn't have to go through this! Apparently the CT's are very accurate.

I wish you continued good news. May all the bad stuff be shrinking away to nothing so you can regain your health. As for "flipping your wig," yes, I think you just have to laugh about things like that. When the choice is either laugh or cry, I always prefer to laugh. I love your spirit! May God bless!

    Hugs--

If you do not mind telling me, what type of chemo did you have and how many radiation tx???? just curious because i only lost patches of my hair and did not need a wig. I had 5FU with mitomycin and 27 tx of radiation . I was at MDA. i do think that it is important to compare. I was stage II with no obvious node invovment. thanks sephie

Hi Sephie, If your referring to Joannes wig, she went through tx for the lung plurea, and had a totally different treatment, than what she had for the anal cancer. Lori
