Fran...PET scan results?

Hi Fran,
I had a note reminding me that you go for your PET scan today. What were the results? I've got my fingers and toes crossed that you climbed passed the 40% mark and all is looking good for you. Will check back later to hear what the "GOOD" news is!

    Fran - PET scan results
    Hi Sue and Beth - how very kind of you to note the date and ask - thank you! Yes, PET was yesterday and we meet with the Oncologist Monday afternoon to find out results - will be sure to let you know that night on this site what we learn. We're praying and have our fingers crossed for better results than we're expecting. I keep reading on other sites (not sure we are supposed to mention other ones here, but just discovered www.lymphoma.org last week that is full of great info from professionals)that Indolent NHL(which I am) is more difficult to reach remission with Chemo than Aggressive NHL. Learning so much more each week!

    Hope you're doing well - need to read some recent posts - haven't been here in about 5 days. Will write again Monday - thanks again and have a great Sunday! Fran

    Fran,
    Be watching for those pet results. I really hope all is well. I have this feeling that all will be better than what you may be expecting. Our minds tend to really go amuk with all of the "What Ifs". I know mind did when I heard the word lymphoma.It is only human nature to think that way. Anyone that says they don't think that way I'd have to wonder about. Its all part of the thought process. John

    Thanks, Vinny and John. YOu're so very right - our minds really take off on one little bit of info and run with it - whether good or bad. I've been told by many friends that they're amazed how positive I've been through the past year (diagnosed Sept. '09) and I've tried so hard to be. I do think positive thoughts win over negative in any battle, and have read particularly in cancer it's as important as your medical treatment. So thannks for reminding me of that! I've only had a few blue "stay at home" moments which is a wonder since I'm a very social person and on the go 7 days a week. It's been really hard isolating myself at home month after month with very low white cell counts, so every few weeks or so I have a good cry and then I move on. Results in 4 hours - let you know later. Fran

    Fran - Pet scan results
    Well, today was our meeting with the Oncologist and I didn't get the results we'd hoped for. Big tumor in abdomen near pancreas showed 12cm tumor went down to 8.5 cm in July after 3 CVS-R treatments. Today we found no more shinkage occured since then with the last 3 treatments. There's still a mass about 3 1/2 inches in my ab that didn't respond to Chemo. It's inoperable due to the location of being under the intestines and intertwined with many blood vessels. SO - Dr. is trying to get an appt. for me next week in Tampa at Moffitt Cancer Center with the Chair of the Lymphoma Dept. (isn't it nice they're friends and hopefully he can work me in) for his opinion on what my next option would be. My Dr. says there are new Radioimmunotherapy drugs (RIT) for patients who don't respond to Chemo. He said I was "a complicated patient" whatever that means! Hubby and I must read up on this type of drug - know little except instead of Chemo being given over several months, it's given by IV for one week. IF it works, the remission rate is high for up to 8 years. Has anyone used this type? So - off to find something that works. Have hundreds praying for me, and would appreciate yours too! Fran

    I don't know what to say about the pet results. I thought what they were looking for was the SUV (sugar uptake value) not the tumor size. Was anything said concerning the Suv? Are the tumors still active? I know we all forget to ask questions because of all the info being thrown at us. Even when we write our questions down others will come up with the new info they are telling us. John

    I wish you my best that you get the most to have your tumor treated the best way possible. It is amazing how many and creative ways of treatments are out there for your case. Best of luck!! My prayers are with you.
