    my husband
Has had significant ear pain - it was one of his complaints at the time of diagnosis. Seems to have gotten a bit worse since treatment ended. His oncologist suggests there may be fluid behind the ear which the swelling from radiation is not allowing to drain.

He will see the ENT in a couple of weeks and, if it is fluid, he may need a tube put in that ear.

    Hugs!

    Hi Survivor

Ask your ENT to give you some ear drops, I can’t remember the name of the stuff I use it is not intended for ear pain but is sure helps me at night trying to sleep. I will PM you with the ear drop name later when I get home.

    calling the doctor now
    Hondo,

I am calling Jim's ENT to see if we get ear drops which might help him.

Didn't even think of that possibility!

    Thanks!

    Hi Survivor / Noellesmon
The drops I am using is not for pain but it sure helps me when the pain is there it is called CIPRODEX 7.5ml

I have tubes in both ears, so the drops go all the way in and smooth the hurting, I hope it works for you.

    ENT appointment
I made an appointment for Jim to see the ENT today (as well as the appointment post-PET).

Hopefully, he'll be able to give Jim some relief from this unrelenting pain. The oncologist did mention he might need tubes due to fluid build-up that can't move because of the swelling caused by radiation.

Will let you know what we find out.

    ear pain
One of my main systoms was ear pain, never had a discharge from the ear. They told me it was ear wax that was trapped inside the ear and would get worse with treatment. It has, but still no discharge. Maybe you should call and ask, worth a phone call to be sure

    discharge from ear
    Survivor,

I do think you should see your ENT as soon as possible. Anytime you have blood in a discharge it needs to be checked by your doctor as soon as you can get in to see him. I missed that information in your original post or I would have suggested going in to the doctor at that point.

Jim's app't revealed that all he had was some serious swelling. The doctor prescribed an anti-inflammatory Jim will start today.

Again, though, Survivor, a bloody discharge needs to be checked.

Let us know what you find out!

    Hugs!
