Triple Neg. Breast Cancer/Stage 2/Grade 3

I'm short of one year being "branded" with cancer. Poked, jabbed, stabbed, sliced, diced, baked and fried. And still have a long way to go. Husband lost job last week so trying to afford CORBA. Any advice?????

    I don't really have advice about it. My Sister used COBRA while she was a survivor. She also participated in some studies because she wanted to use her experience to help others, and it helped her get the best and newest treatments. I definitely would say go ahead and apply, but that's all I know.

    Thanks so much. COBRA's great if you can afford the monthly payments. In a drug study - but nothing is paid for. Just tough times right now. Hope your sister is doing well. Thanks again.

    COBRA is great. Sorry for your husband's situation. I was on COBRA for 8 months in 2009. Government paid 60% . I am not sure if this program is still active. Since you have pre-existing conditions it is important to keep coverage to avoid future discrimination by insurance companies. Can you apply for Medicaid or Medicare? Ask your family and friend to help with COBRA payments. My family stopped eating out and we saved a lot of money.

    Sorry to hear about your husband loosing his job. My husband just went through another layoff and we thought he would be laidoff. He was not, but we looked into COBRA, the monthly payments are high but worth it.

    I am triple negative two and have been receiving my tx via a trial study. Everything is paid for.

    I am praying for you and your husband.

    Thanks so much. The goverment program ended 12-09. And your right with a pre-existing condition no one (insurance) will touch you. Was told I could not get a Medical card by SRS office. It's tough and I know others have more on their plate then I do. Thanks again and many prayers to you and yours.

    I too am in a trial study and nothing was paid for. Had six months of chemo and 11 weeks of daily radiation. Just tired of it all. I found my lump 10-15-10. My husband broke his back 12-21-10 in ATV rollover. He is only 49 and was able (thank God) to have surgery that used a glue to fix his back. He has been in pain every since. Losing his job and insurance was not a real shock. His employer saw him as high risk.Like some many people we were living pay check to pay check. It's harder then most people would think to get any goverment help.It's been almost a year and we still can't get any help. We still have to daugthers at home (17 and 12)it's so hard on them. Wish they didn't have to "live" this with us. Thanks for the prayers I know that is what see's us though these dark days. Many prayers to you and yours.
