How's our Vinny doing today?

Hi Vinny,
I just got done cleaning everything up from our fish fry and thought.."Whew"..I'm exhausted...and then I thought of you for the 3rd time today....first time was this morning when I woke up feeling tired and remembered it was fish fry party day, so had to push through the tired feeling...second time was when hubby was cooking the bass and I told him you loved bass, and your wife loves salmon and now after everyone has gone and I feel like I've been run over by a truck! It was a good day with friends and family, lots of yummy food, and gorgeous weather, but once my energy took a nose dive everything came to a halt. Glad it didn't happen until everyone had left and clean up was finished. Made me think how hard it must be for you everyday with your blood counts so low. Can't imagine feeling that way for as long as you have been doing it! Hope today was an ok day for you and wanted you to know you were, and always are in our thoughts. Sue

    Good!
    Hi Vinny,
Glad to hear your feeling a "little" bit better. A little bit better each day will eventually add up to a whole day and then so on and so forth, at least thats one way to look at it..eh? I'm taking a 3 day road trip tomorrow.(be back home Wed).. Hope I'm not pushing my luck with feeling so good, but need to get this done before the snow blows. My 85 year old Aunt lives alone in Klamath Falls Oregon which is about a 7 hour drive from my home, and I go every year in October to visit her. Each year I help her clean out the garden before winter, stock her up on canned, frozen and smoked fish for winter eating and then get all of her storm windows put on. I'll be going alone and it will be the first time I've driven that far since starting chemo. I really don't think I'll have any problems and plan to take things slow and easy. I love the drive this time of year and feel like I just need to "go for it". Anyways...I'll take my laptop with me and check in with the group after I get there. Wish me luck!...ha! You stay peaceful Vinny and work on getting those counts up. Always thinking good positive thoughts...Sue

    FEELING BETTER
    Vinny,
As you and I and the rest of the gang know it is all up and down with this chemo. Its so sad you have been mostly on the down side so far. I think about your battle everyday. Hopefully now that you feel a little more on the upside it will be upward from here on out. Feeling better is sure a great sign. I actually sighed a breath of relief when I read your post this morning. Its all good thoughts from all of us. You will be ok, but it has been a rough uphill battle I know. I have days where my butt is dragging and my counts have never been all that low. It is hard to really imagine what you are going and have been going through up to now. We are still here for you and we are not going anywhere. ALWAYS remember that. Take it easy and be talking to you buddy. John

    Drawing upon your strength
    Vinny,

Today, anxiety attack hit me and I told hubby that in two days, I will have another chemo. Then I thought of you - with your words of strength to keep on going. Yes, I tell myself it s gonna get tad better everyday, ha ha! Then I focus on here and now then feel ok.

    Keep on plugging too

    Anxiety
    Hi Liz,
I get anxious also a few days before my chemo and then the morning of, I'm a wreck! It's weird that we get this way since we've already had it done and know what to expect. I hope all goes well on Tuesday(?)with your next chemo. I'll have you in my prayers to find peace and calm in the days before. Love...Sue

    How many days?
    Hi John,
How many more days do you have taking the pred? I just live for the 5th day knowing there's no more till the next round! Do you have anything to take at night to help you fall asleep? I take 1 Xanax an hour before bed and it usually mellows me out just enough to get 5 or so hours of sleep. After you finish this last dose of "P", you are done, right?..Lucky duck!...Sue

    PREDNISONE
    Sue,
Today was my last day for the MONSTER drug. It really surprised me it did not tear me up like the last few times. I was up all night the first 3 days after this treatment. Then I sort of mellowed out a little. The first thru 5 rounds it had me up all the time walking on the ceiling. I never took any thing to make me sleep. I thought it would make me sleepy all the next day. Didn't matter much, I was sleepy anyway. Hopefully this was my last round of chemo(#6). I will find out on the 15th of Oct. for sure. Have a nice and peaceful trip. John

    Going with the flow
Yes, thanks for your thoughts, Sue and Vinny! After the chemo, my stomach hurt a lot but no nausea so that was good. Eating more now. Dr warns me that I may get more tired after more chemo treatments. Makes me wonder if I should not expect to work more then? Sigh.. Maybe I will just stick to one day a week for work for the next 5 months. Dr. said I will have pet and cat scan check up at end of Nov then for sure have 2 more chemo then see if I need two more then... I keep counting and yes, I am walking on the bridge already!!
