Hi All,
Just returned on Monday from the 3 day lymphoma conference in SF and as usual it was very informative. This years conference was about 50% smaller in attendance than two years ago but still great to be around 300 lymphoma survivors.

Wanted to let all of you with fNHL know there are lots of new therapies on the horizon and many clinical trials showing very good results. Also for other indolent lymphomas. Not as much available for B cell aggressives but there are some promising drugs for the PTCL. The pod casts will be available in about 6 weeks on their wed site.

The Oncs in attendance were wonderful with lots of time for asking questions and speaking with them one on one. A doctor John Miller from Arizona Cancer Center spent lots of time with us who have B Cell aggressive, and I might see him if I need a third opinion in the future. Only wish I could meet someone with my type of disease, always strange to be the only one with this in a large group of NHL survivors.

    Hi Leslie,
    That is good news about F-NHL with new trials having good results. For some reason I thought having indolent F-NHL ment we did not have as good results as the aggressives. I read somewhere the reason being that there appears to be a high rate of recurrance which means more treatments and being harder on our bodies. I'm just glad it's not as bad as I was thinking.     Hi Sue,

    Agressive lymphoma is easier to treat as fast growing cells respond more easily to chemo than slow growing cells. And agressive b cell lymphomas are considered curable where as indolent are not. However that doesn't mean that agressives are all curable. The trials were for drugs being tested for fNHL only. There are many treatments for indolent lymphomas that do not work on agressive lymphomas. Bexxar and Zevlin have poor results on agressives but could be a long term remission/cure on indolents.

    This info does help. My oldest sister lives in Livermore Ca, and said the next time there is a conference in the Bay area I could come and stay with her and then we could both go to one. Do you have any dates or information for the next one in the Bay area?
