99.9% Happy but Confused from PET/CT Scan
I just got off the phone with my oncologist after receiving a PET/CT scan yesterday.I also had a MRI of head and neck two weeks ago which showed an enlarged lymph node which is why he ordered the PET.I was currently fighting a nasty head cold. The MRI showed no tumor growth in my nasophyarnx.I am happy to be told my lymphnode showed no disease as well as the rest of my body except where my radiation was received at my tumor sight.I last saw my ENT two months ago.He said it looks like I never had cancer.I just moved my appointment up to tomorrow. My oncologist is confident that the area that lit up on PET is still caused by my radiation. He gave me his 99.9% confidence that this is a favorable result. So I am cautiously celebrating ONE YEAR SURVIVAL! Thanks for listening.

I to have gotten the same news. Don't worry, I'm 99.9 percent sure. Your Oncoman is trying to be as confident as he/she can be. There is no 100% and anyone who tells you that, is lying to you. How would you have felt if the first time you were told you had cancer Oncoman had told you that your survival rate was 99.9%. Sounds pretty damn good now? Congrats on a clean scan and that is a clean scan!0 -

I love your title for your oncologist, it makes me smile something we all need more of.It makes me picture him with a large O on his chest with a cape and an IV pole in his hand. Thanks for the positve feedback from everyone it really gives me strength.

Larla,
I'm celebrating in my own little way. You celebrate in a big way.
Larla, it sounds like very good news. I don't believe we should ever let our guard down too far regardless and it's best adopt the right lifestyle.
One year out and all clear is great news. Trust that every year will be clear.
