Pinch Me, Am I Dreaming?
I'm sitting here in disbelief and could use a pinch right now. I'm half afraid to talk about it for fear the doctor's office will call and say he was wrong. I'm in shock, blissful shock, but shock non the less, the spot on my lung that I was suppose to have cut out on Oct 8th is gone! I've never had news like this since all this started 2 1/2 years ago, well a scan or 2 came back okay right after chemo, but it's usually been crappy news like you need a liver resection, oh and since the chemo didn't seem to work the 1st time there's no sense in doing it again. I'm really afraid to be happy about this, I'm afraid it will come back to bite me in the butt!
I really want to thank everyone who was supportive when it looked like I was going to have VATS. You guys who have had lung surgeries were a wealth of information and sure helped to calm my nerves! If I ever do need the surgery I won't be nearly as scared next time. Thank you all so much!!!
Now the dog and I are going to celebrate and take a nice long walk!
Best wishes to everyone,
Viv

Fresh Air Helps Clear the Head!
Well that helped. Now I'm pooped and the dog is too.
I think what I've learned from this is sometimes it's a good thing when things don't move along quickly. The PET/CT that showed the spot was on 8/10 found out the news on 8/17. Talked to the surgeon on 9/3 and the CT was ordered for 9/15 and just found out the results of it today. So I guess giving my lung over a month gave the infection/inflammation (that's what they are calling it now) time to clear up. What if the CT had been done in a couple of weeks and the spot was still there and I had the surgery only to find out afterward that it was just an infection! What a way to find that out!
Thanks everyone for celebrating with me!

Congratulations!!
Hi Viv -- Congratulations!! Wonderful news! Wow!
For what it is worth -- I had a "disappearing lung met" last summer. A lesion was found on PET scan. Since I had had two previous lung mets (both surgically removed and confirmed to be mets), we all assumed this was another. I also had a delay of a month or so, while sorting out a treatment plan. I was going to have a gold 'marker' put in before surgery -- but when I went for the CT/marker insertion, they couldn't find the lesion (!!!).
Was it an artifact on the original PET? An inflammation or mucuous plug which disappeared? A miracle? Who knows. The docs say probably mucuous plug (charming!!). But I've never been one to object to miracles! I was about due for one.....
So congratulations on your "miracle" - yea!!!!!!!

Don't mind you asking, since they found the met in the liver in April this year I'm a stage 4 now, but I was diagnosed as a 3B in July '08.
I still don't believe it, but the sun is shining and it looks like a beautiful Fall day today and I'm going to soak up every minute of it!
Hope you have a great day too!
