Stage 4
My mom in law starts chemo ( carboplatin?) tomorrow morning at Moffit hosp. She is stage 4 from her heel to bone, lung ,lymph nodes. She cannot do the trial drug till she tries the chemo first. Please send her your prayers and positive energy. Thank you all..
Hi all,
Just found out that the chemo is not carboplatin. It is Dacarbazine. Anyone have any experience with this chemo. Thanks..

Stage 4 hope
Hello my wife was told in 11/08 she had melanoma ( in her sinus ) by 05/10 it was stage 4 see started bio-chemo at Moffit with Dr. Weber he is one of the best.In 08/10 he started her on the trial drug ipilimumab she got good scans (regression) after the first cycle of treatment. He gave her 12 weeks off she has gained all of her weight back, takes no pain meds, exersises, and is even driving her car some. There are no guarantees but she is doing great. So you have hope, keep praying ( we will as well )you can be assured she is at one of the best centers in the USA.TAKE CARE PLucas0 -

Hi PLucas,
Thank you for your supportive words. We are leaving on Saturday to fly to Florida. We will go with mom in law to Moffit for her treatment. We should know by the end of Oct if she will be able to be part of the ipilimumab trial. Right now she is on dacarbazine only.
Peaceful healing...

Good morning Lisha the ipilimumab is what my wife was started on they have had some great results with that drug and it looks like they may have FDA approval in Dec.this year.If you can look up www.gentlewinds.org it is by another CSN member. Her story is a great one and is just now starting a trial at Moffitt.Look at the video's on melanoma the first three are with Dr. Weber the first one is all about the things they do at Moffitt. The second Dr. Weber tells you how the ipilimumab works in understandable terms. Then under melanoma warriors look at the very last video with the 22 year old women on ipilimumab.I think this info may help you.
