Are you scared

Hi All,
Hope your week is starting off well. I am having a really hard time with the fatigue. Today, going up the stairs was close to impossible. I was so short of breath. I had to stop many times. It hurt to breathe. I know that some of you have trouble with anemia and or major fatigue. Do you get scared by this. I keep thinking that it is silly to be scared ,but the feeling is so strong and I'm so tired. Some days are just a lot harder than others.

    Yes
    Hi Lisha,
Yes...I get very scared when I grt short of breath. Every time I take the "you know what" for the first 5 days after chemo, it causes me to have periods of time when I can't catch my breath and it scares the heck out of me. You arn't alone...just don't panic like I do because it makes it 10 times worse! My hubby always calms me down and makes me take short little breaths until I can gradually take deeper ones. I need to stop going down to the family room and walking up and down those 13 stairs, because that will send me into a shortness of breath attack. Take care and my thoughts are with you...Love...Sue

    Hi Sue,
I tell myself to stop going up and down also, but for some reason or another I always keep doing it. Today feels like when I had pneumonia. So tired and so hard to breathe. I am trying to keep my bottom glued to a chair...Sigh
How was your day, I hope you sailed through without any problems. I will keep the positive thoughts going for you and the devil p med. Stay strong you are a warrior...

    Doing good
    Hi Lisha,
All went well today as I posted in another post. I'm going to pretend I'm not on the "you know what pills"..Ha! I'm dealing with a nasty headache right now, but hopefully my night time medicine will knock it out. I'm sorry you are so tired and short of breath. It's just the pits. I'm like you with the stairs...just can't seem to keep my butt upstairs. Laundry room is down there, the freezer and 2nd fridge, so I'm always going down there for one thing or another. Hubby taped a big note on the door leading down that says "Turn around and go sit down...NOW"!!! Silly man..after 32 years does he really think a note is going to work??...ha!ha! Gotta love him for the effort. Well...I will be thinking good thoughts for you to get some energy back and to start breathing better.Curl up with Lola and nap. Love....Sue

    Fatigue!!
Sorry to hear of the troubles. I don't remember the shortness of breath, but my problem was my legs. The incredible fatigue seemed to settle itself in my legs. They were so sore and weak that I would make it halfway up the stairs and nearly cry from trying to make it the rest of the way. And yes it was at times scary. The fatigue was so strong. You take good care of yourself and know that it really does get better. I know I had my doubts when I was going through it and it took a while but it did all go away. I think now I just get warning reminders from my body when I do too much. Mary

    Smiling
    Hi Vinny,
You really make me smile.. Yes, I would have a battle for the couch. She out weighs me, plus she is so sweet and spoiled that I'd give in to her.LOL. Thanks for sharing about being scared. I try so hard to not let fear creep into my life. Given that this is old hat for me having cancer. But as you know, it has a way of sneaking in.
Can you tell me about your H & N ca. Did you have rads. I have been reading about people who have, and now have teeth trouble. When I had rads, no one told me about that. My teeth just crumble, break etc. Sorry to drift off to another land , just wondering.
Hope you final day is positive and full of ease. All the best to you and your family.
    Peaceful healing...

    teeth
    Lisha,
I never had rads but had teeth trouble anyway. The dentist told me rads is the worse but chemo will also cause tooth problems. It may take a while but it will happen sooner or later with chemo. John

    teeth
Hi Lisha, she is beautiful! My head and neck did involve a lot of Rad's, I was fitted with a mask and confined to a table, where the radiation was administered. My Doctor did prepare me that it is very possible that my teeth can fall out. I'm fortunate that my wife is a dental Hygienist, so we keep a close watch on it. It sucks to say, but it's one of those things that we can't control. Just do your best........ Positive thoughts your way! Vinny

    Thanks guys
    Hey John and Vinny,
Thanks for the posts on teeth.
I was never told that it would be an issue. I had to find out on my own. It did take a few years before I started seeing any problems. Now, my teeth break for no reason and some seem to just fall apart. In May I had to have one pulled and the dentist wanted to pull another, but I felt that even if it was cracked, I would keep the one a little longer. Glad I did, but I know it will have to go sometime. I do have more rads schedualed for Nov. But, with the state that my mom in law is in, I'm thinking that it's possible things may change. I hope to go to Florida before Nov, but still am unsure. Thanks again on the teeth feedback..
    Peaceful healing ..

    In tune to your body
    Lisha,

I find that doing yoga really helps me listen to my body - that I do on a regular basis. When I had bad days, then I listen to my body and said ok - don't move and take a breath and so on. One of the things that help me to calm down is asking myself what really would happen rather than imagining that will happen in percentage. Hope you feel more at peace then.

    Hard to do
    Hi Liz,
While I'm taking the pred I don't think there is any way I could sit still long enough to do Yoga. I'd end up with my foot stuck in my ear or some dumb thing...ha! It's a task to just talk my self down when I have my breathing attacks. I've mastered that right now, but not any exercising. Maybe down the road.
    Love...Sue

    OH that Pred!!
    Hi, Sue,

Oh, I realize the pred is something that can be uncontrollable in terms of nervous energy. Maybe redirect it to being active, huh? I know it is a challenge.

    Hugs,
    Liz
