    Well again, just using a newborn baby as a yardstick, it is not out of the question that your hair will indeed fill in again. Mine grows like a weed! I need to cut it every 6 weeks, as it gets out of control and heavy. My eyebrows were the slowest to come back in and they honestly are not as filled in as I would like. When I go in for my haircuts, I have the stylist dye my brows..it fills them in and also colors the skin. I have just as much hair everywhere else as I did before cancer...I do not think I am an anomoly. I will NOT tell you to be patient!! you have enough of us saying that, don't you? :-)

    Actually, I say I lost some eyebrows, but gained a moustache! Sheesh~ it's always something, isn't it? Thank God for both dye AND wax!!!!

    I know what you mean about the part, but I actually had to part it on the other side because the side I usually part it on is so thin. I tried just brushing it back and having no part, but to me that looked thinner also. I will discuss this with the stylist.

    Bottom line to all who replied (I know you cannot tell me for sure) but do you have any thoughts if it will get thicker and how long this will take?

    I wanted to let you know, I spoke with my mom about the thinning hair issue. She honestly looks better than she has in 15 years (she's 67) and she is not using any special product, but a good cut and color from a knowledgable stylist. I verified it's just the style and color is what she's doing differently with her current stylist. If you aren't happy with the style you get with your current stylist, maybe going to a specialist who works with thinning hair would be helpful. As far as a hair piece or it growing back, I'm not sure, since I'm going through the same thing, but I can tell you that my mom looks great. My friends mom got a Raquel Welch wig type piece that goes over and blends with her natural hair. She got that from her local salon.

    Hi Ohilly, I haven't been on line in awhile, just popped in tonight to see what's new.....as for your hair.....mine came in quickly and like it was before.....but now on this Arimidex it seems to be thinning and not as much at the temples....so I use SILICEA gel drink or caplets....they have been a God send, makes hair grow in and strengthen nails that break easy, I now have stronger nails and longer ones too and my hair on my head is better and so are my eye lashes. They were thinning too so this silicea helps them too.....just some advice :)

    I wish I could see your pictures and would really like to know how your hair is doing now. I see that your posts are from back in March 09. I feel like the only one on the planet who is having so much trouble with hair regrowth. Mine is very abnormal. In October, I will be a year out and I have only about 3 or 4 inches. The length is NOT the problem. My hair is so thin, you can see my scalp and it is obvious I have been through "something". Talk about depressed!!!!! I am so tired of looking like a cancer patient. One year later....I look like I am still getting chemo. If you still check these posts, I would love to hear how things are going now and would also really like to see the pics you posted.

    She was here recently, but she does not come on regular basis anymore. My advice to you is Write her a privet message, she will probably answers. You can also search several days back.

    I may be speaking prematurely but....
    After I am finished with Chemo (Oct) I plan on taking prenatal vitamins. My daugher is pregnant and she said that they have really made her hair grow fast. I also heard from a friend that when she lost her hair she went to the health food store and bought the pills that she swears by. so I went out and bought them. they are called Biotin. Like I said, I have not tried either one YET - but I will. I figure I have nothing to lose but alittle money if it doens't work.

    I would also love to see pics of your hair now, Chilly. I am 9 months out from chemo (Cytoxan and Taxotere) and had I not buzzed it back three times already (hoping it would thicken up), I would have about 5 inches. My length is not my problem either, Kelly. My scalp is visible. I've said something on here before in another thread about it. If it's not going to come back, okay, but I would at least like to know so I can do something if I decide to. People (friends, drs., and healthcare professionals) keep telling me, "oh, your hair's coming back in. How long have you been finished with chemo?" When I tell them it's been 9 months, they sort of get this look like "uh oh" and then they say something like, "well give it time, it'll come in". I look like I have male pattern baldness. If either of you would like to talk, let me know. Kelly, I would like to know how yours looks now.

    I can definitely relate to
    I can definitely relate to the "uh oh" look. I had taxotere, carboplatin and Herceptin. I am 11 months out and my hair is very very sparce.....it is so upsetting. It's not about vanity as much as just wanting to return to "normal". I don't want to look in the mirror and have it tell me, I am not healthy yet. That's how it seems.

    I've tried all the vitamins...I've always been pretty healthy...a runner, etc. I've tried Nioxen...emu oil (weird I know)....you name it. Still no change.

    Thanks for your reply and yes..I would love to talk and maybe exchange pics. I was just wondering if anyone else experienced this. The doctors admit that they are stumped...and everyone I know who went through this has a thick, full head of normal hair and some of them finished chemo more recently than I. Eeeeek!!!

    Okay, for all you who inquired about my hair: I am now more than 2 years out (my last chemo was in June of 08). My hair has remained thin on the top and sides. My advice is: don't waste your time with medical treatments, dermatologists, special shampoos, etc. NONE OF THEM WORK. The only way to deal with this is thru make-up. If you go to www.thinninghair.com, you will find two products, Hair So Real and Toppik, which are 'concealers' : you sprinkle them on your head to cover the thin spots, and it is very effective. Also, go to a very good hairdresser who can make it look better by telling you how to style it.

    In my case, I think the Femara is what did this to me. But there is also a group on the internet, www.taxotears.org or .com, I can't remember which, which says that Taxotere caused them permanent hair loss.

    I have adjusted to my hair, although I still miss my formerly thick and beautiful hair. Now I have bigger problems; I developed Osteonecrosis of the Jaw from being in a trial for Zometa.

    Please feel free to PM me if you have questions about my hair. I'll do my best to respond to your questions. I know firsthand how upsetting this is.

I am not very good at taking it, probably because I have doubts about taking it at all. As for the hair, it just doesn't seem fair. I should be thankful that my hair is my biggest "beef" right now, but I'm still too bitter.

    My last chemo was 12-22-09. I thought my hair
    would all come in at once but wrong! It is different lenghts on the sides, back and top. A week ago I had my first trim to even things up. My back and one side is curly and thick. My other is more straight. My top is sorta curly and thinner. You can see parts of my scalp on top. My hair in the back and side was about 3 inches, the top and other side shorter. I am using (and used before bc for the front of my head) a product called Nioxin. I started using it at 6 mo out of treatment. It has a cleanser, conditioner, scalp treatment and follicle booster. It has helped tremendously. Also, massage your scalp, it should be loose and move around easily...stimulate thos hair follicles into waking up.

    But for some of you, there may be more of a problem caused by the after treatments you have to take. I'm triple neg so don't have to take any hormones etc. I am hoping by Dec. my scalp won't show anymore. But I'm able to comb over and from the front (unless you're taller than me) it doesn't show. I look at all those old pictures of me with my "hair looking terrible" and long for those days....lol.
