It helps a little, but time is what will get rid of it. It takes a few weeks, then it goes really dry. We all hated the part you are going through now. It will pass though.

nose spray
my doctor just prescribed me a nose spray of xylitol and saline and it seems to help thin it out. hope this helps I know I hate how thick it gets and it makes it hard to talk!
Best of luck
Linda
but I'm not going through treatment now that was 10 years ago but I have a fungus in my throat that is making my mucous super thick. Just ask your doctor.0 -
Benadryl, maybe?
I took a half dose of liquid benadryl elixer about half an hour before I had to be bolted down for rads. The mucous would subside long enought for me to get through the treatment without choking. Otherwise, as others have said, time will cure it.

My husband gargled with baking soda/salt mixture many times a day. That seemed to help and believe it or not it will subside. Hang in there.0 -

I do baking soda to help control mucous problem, also I have started to us a stuff called Ocean Nasal spray it helps with problems in the nasal passageway
Same stuff i use that I call an over the counter nasal spray. I like to tip head back and spray until i feel in throat, this helps loosen the nose and back of throat. Seems to work very quickly. Been using it now 14 years.0 -
Soda and saltPumakitty said:Hi
My dad did the baking soda/salt thing off and on all day long. He said that is the only thing that helped. He is just three monthes out of treatment and still has a little issue with it. But a huge improvement from what it was.

Been doing that and its not helping as much as it did to start with. Maybe it is the fact he is now 6 weeks into treatment? Not sure!
