My precious David is in Heaven

David died yesterday afternoon surrounded by his mom, his kids, his sister Sue who got out of the hospital an hour earlier, his sister in law, his brother in law, his best friend, and me, of course.

I feel so privileged to have spent 37 years married to the man of my dreams. I will miss him terribly but I hope I am a better person now because of my two and a half years as a caregiver. He told the kids and I that if you have to die, this is the way to do it, surrounded by those you love.

We have no regrets in his choice of treatments, or in the medical team we assembled. He had a couple of wonderful hospice nurses that assisted us in so many ways. Our family and friends have been amazing. We feel so very blessed.

His celebration of life service will be Friday and his cremated remains will be buried next week in our home town. I won't be able to post much for the next few days but I've grown to love this board and all of you, and I will return when I can. I only want the best for all of you. I will celebrate your victories and mourn your losses. There is no better group on earth!

    Priscilla, My heart is broken to hear this sad news. I'm so sorry for your loss. The evil cancer took one more loved one's life and leave the pain to you. I hate this disease. May God give you the strength to go through this difficult time. Take care. - Lucy

    Dear priscilla,

    I have followed his situation on board every couple days...Your precious david is in god's hands...
    I'm glad he has no suffer anymore and sure that he is more happy now.
    My mom is in the same process and I wish calm and peace for her too.

My father passed away yesterday also so i can relate to what you are feeling in someway although i know that everyones situation is different. Wishing you all the strength for the coming days and beyond.

    Heaven truly has another angel. David will always be there in your heart, and imprinted on your soul. You are such a beautiful person and David will being watching over you. I hope that in some small measure these words bring you some comfort during this difficult time.     lam very bad dealing with this situations so don't know what to say.

    My heart is so heavy over the loss of David by this cancer.

    I am so glad, that he was surrounded by his loving family, and that you had wonderful friends standing beside you all as well.

    He had his own angel on this earth, YOU, and I'm sure he has a wonderful welcoming party waiting for him in heaven, surrounded by loved ones still.

    I am sorry for your loss of this man you loved for so many years. Take care of yourself dear. We will continue to think of you and yours.

    a friend reminded me just yesterday, that when she has a loss, she tries to focus on the time you had with that person, instead of the time you lose. 37 yrs is awesome, not many are that lucky any more...I am very sadden to hear this, but I know he will always be with you.

    You've been an amazing source of strength and support to your dear David, and have handled a terribly difficult situation with dignity and grace.     I know there are mixed feelings now. We have to be greatful that David is not in pain and has moved beyond cancer now, but his absence leaves a hole in our lives.

    I am glad that he was able to communicate with you all and that you and your loving family were with him to ease his way.

    Celebrate his life and his love for you and yours for him.

    I want to offer you my condolences for the loss of your beloved David. You two were a team to admire + I am awed by the way you supported him every step of the way. I also cannot believe how giving you are to this board, when your hands have been so full. I smile everytime I see the picture of you + David, partly because it is such a lovely picture + partly because David reminds me so much of a friend of my parents who was such a big part of my life growing up. His first name also was David, but he went by "Jerry" (middle name). Please take good care of yourself.
