throat dilations and other problems

Hi Addimom
I am on the chopping block to have this throat dilation done soon, scares the hell out of me as I worry about side affects from it. On the fungus make sure your ENT knows and is giving you something for it. Please keep posting on how you are doing, like I said I am up for it but don’t know if I want to have it done.
All the best to you.0 -

I'm on three different medicines. The first time I had the throat dilation I had no problems and it was amazing how much I could eat. I actually gained 10 pounds but it was fun. I only had a sore throat for a few days afterwards. Good luck with it and let me know how it turns out. Do you know if you are having the balloon or something called the "borgie" (probably spelled it wrong)? Keep in touch best to you too
Also the doctor thinks I may have had the fungus when he was doing the procedure but it was not as evident.0 -
Double throat dilation
I had my third throat dialation done Monday, and my ENT did a new procedure called a double throat dialation, where instead of just one dialitor, he used two. This is a pretty new procedure, I guess and today I am doing much better. My throat has had so many surgeries that the 2 last ones were done with a shot of Botox to relax the muscle so I could swollow. This new procedure went not as well as I had expected as they tore my esopogus, and we're worried may have had a hole, and if I would have, every thing I ate or drank would have gone through it and then I would have serious problems, even death. Fortunately, I just had the tear, but no hole so I came home. I can't eat only liquids and very soft food for a couple of weeks, but I can tell you that today I really feel that this is going to work. He learned this procedure in Australia as he is not only a ENT, but is the head of that department and I found out that he goes all over the world learning new procedures and lecturing. So this is a testimony that if a regular dialation doesn't work for you, there are other ways to go. I am just giving God the glory as He has been through all of these surgeries by my side. The last one I had was a pec flap, where I contacted mersa. This tonsil cancer is sure a bugger, but I am alive and it looks like I may be able to go to a restaurant again. It has been 2 years since all I have eaten is soft for veggies and soup. I keep you all in my prayers even though I haven't been on here for a while. God bless you all.
