Hi Norma,
I went back to work 1 1/2 months later. I probably could have gone back sooner, but I was fortunate to have a lot of sick leave saved up. I was really tired for quite some time. Everybody is different, so if you think you can do it, then you probably can. Lori0 -
I went back about 3 1/2 weeks after I finished treatment. I was still very tired though and it took me awhile to get my stamina back.z said:Norma

Hi Norma - I'm almost a month out of treatment and to be honest today I have had the most energy so far...not close to my usual chicken without a head running around, not by a long shot but much better than last week. I think each week gets a bit better than the week before but since I only have one month to gauge all that, probably am not as good an advisor as someone who has more months behind them. Can you go back to work half days to start? We used to be able to do that. It would give you some money coming in but not tax your body full time right away.0 -

Just had to say I'm glad to hear that your energy level is improving! I hope that continues!

I also need to add that I was blessed because my company was wonderful and so supportive. I was able to ease back in so when there were days that I didn't have too much strength I could work from home. Although I officially went back 3 1/2 weeks later, I didn't feel strong until maybe 5 - 6 months later. Then the weird aches and pains set in, then went away. Now one year later, no major radiation issues and stamina pretty good. Stressful job and I'm working on balancing things so there isn't too much stress in my life.

Thanks for all the comments. My job is full throttle and they only have light duty for work comp people. Saw med oncologist yesterday he wants me to wait til ct and ultrasound, so I have a couple more weeks. I'll just try not to worry that I have no money. Just hope tumor is gone.

Hi Norma
I returned to work 5 days after my treatment ended but only part time. I worked part time for about 5 weeks and then I went back to full time. My energy was pretty low so I tired out pretty fast.

Hi Y'all, I'm a week and a 1/2 out of treatment, and even though I'm broke, I can't even consider going back to work right now. I had my last rad last Wed, and we started moving into our house that night. I didn't even get my first Sitz bath till yesterday. Trying to unpack is very tiring. And since my job requires that I fly every 3 weeks, and my days are 12 - 16 hours...work is out. Unless I can find a pt job locally for awhile, but I'm not pushing myself yet. Good luck, Melodie0 -

Hi Melodie, I'm a month out of treatment and still could not do what you do in your job as I tire easily but each day gets a little better. Congratulations on finishing treatment. I can't imagine having to pack, move, unpack in a new home right now either yet we persevere and continue on because we have to do so. Please do not push yourself, your body will heal when it heals and you will know when the time is right. Marilyne0
