Unwanted hair

Ok. I'm not sure why the original post was deleted, perhaps the powers that be who deleted it could enlighten me? I realize this a little bit frivolous and vain, but darnit I survived chemo, I'm entitled to a little frivolity and vanity. (Yes, I'm irritated that this post was deleted with no explanation, especially considering some of the posts that have been allowed to remain even after being flagged!)

I'll ask again...I finished chemo in June. My hair is growing back, but I also have a layer of very fine, very blonde, peach fuzzy facial hair. My question is this...

Should I wax it or will it go away? The secretary at my job says she shaves every day. I do NOT want to do that!

    I had a similar experience once I finished chemo and my hair started growing back. I actually didn't even notice it until I saw chin hairs growing and was using my makeup mirror. It was just as you described, a very blond, very fine peach fuzz on my face all the way up to my hair line on the check.

    Good news...it eventually went away.

    p.s. The chin hairs did NOT go away !

    I had the same experience as PJ. It eventually went away. But the annoying "goat hairs" have come back on my chin! Had to blow the dust off the tweezers! Hang in there!

    The facial hair will go away eventually. I was going to wax it but thought it might keep growing so I just left it and it did go away.

    My mom
    My mom also had the peach fuzz, and it did go away. Waxing your whole face is harsh on the skin and can make the extremely fine almost invisible hairs grow in darker and more course (so says the electrologist.) Now as for the chin hairs, my mom got those too - a lot - and now we just lovingly call it "plucking her feathers" as we tweeze.:)

    Well, I don't have OVCA but..
    since they took my ovaries, I have to tweeze now...but mine are dark and strong.....in fact, my niece noticed them last week and I was totally embarassed...I told her this is what she had to look forward to....LOL....she's 14....I am soooo mean :)

    Yes, facial peach fuzz. It did eventually go away without intervention. I still have some but nowhere near as bad as it was.

    YES!!!
    My peach fuzz came out thick after chemo was finished both times!! I get my hair cut at the barber (he does wonderful massages too!) and I also get a shave. During the bad peach fuzz stage, I did some shaving in between. I think the chemo does a number on the hair follicles or something.

    Once again you you hit upon a question that I never thought to ask and bothers me everyday that I try to put on makeup. I also have this coat of blond peachfuzz that I never had before. How comforting to know that it has disappeared for some........ I had those nasty
    chinny, chin, chin hairs before chemo and they are BAAAAACCCKKKK!

    I'm so glad you asked that question, because my husband and I were in the car
    and I let the little visor mirror down to touch-up my make-up before we reached our destination and to my horror/dismay I was like "OMG! Is THAT hair? Augggghhhh! ! !

    Yes, there it was very fine, light and translucent looking, yet a little fuzzy all along the side of my jawline. I haven't seen any chin hairs yet!

    Glad to hear of a possibility they might go away!

    I tell you cancer and all things associated with it has a way of being so insulting sometimes

    I have it big time! I've shaved, I've had it threaded, and then I just let it go. I mean, it's long enough I can pull on it! At least it's very, very light, barely to be seen unless the sun hits it just right. Crazy, man. I don't have eyebrows, eyelashes, or any other hair! Just on my face! :-)

    How long did it take approx. before you ladies noticed that it was gone? I have it too after chemo and I'm very self conscious.

    This is an old thread; some of the contributors are no longer on this board.

    In my experience white fuzz after chemo was gone within a week or two. Facial hair (upper lip, chin) remains; you just have to bleach, tweeze, wax, sugar it off or use one of those depilatory gadgets they sell on TV. Personally I don't like using creams like Nair and Veet, because they gave me chemical burns in the past. Unwanted hair growth may be caused by lack of estrogen due to surgical menopause.

    FACIAL HAIR

    I had it waxed off professionally and it didn't grow back.   Even the hairs on the chin are much much less!

    Thank you! I'm 24 years old and I'm currently in remission from Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). My hair is starting to grow back on my head, but in the last week or so I've been noticing  very fine, white baby hairs on the side of my face and neck (my last treatment was in April). I am very, very self conscious about it and I am praying it will go away on its own but I have my doubts. I don't want to remove it because I am afraid of it getting worse.

    it's not going to get worse

    Buff it off with facial buffer (very fine sandpaper).
