Anxious to Hear About My Father...
Backround for those that don't know or remember...my father was dx with stage 4 EC with mets to the liver in March of this year. He had radiaton and 3 rounds of chemo (wish I remembered what it was), but had to stop because his body just wasn't recovering and the chemo started eating away at his bone marrow. The cancer responded somewhat well to the few chemo rounds, shrunk everything and the liver mets were barely noticeable on film. But since he had to stop, his most recent scan showed a small new met in the liver. As well as a questionable spot on his spine. He gets the results of his bone scan today.
So...his current onocologist wants to wait a couple of months (yeah, right?!!) and see if his blood counts come up enough to maybe try another chemo that won't effect the bone marrow. He (and my mom and I) don't like sitting around doing nothing! He's seeing his other doctor that is much more on the road of "gotta do something". She's gonna look over all his tests, pathology reports and give him some thoughts on what he should do next. She has connections at several top cancer centers and will hopefully be able to direct him to the right place. Because as of now, his current doctor isn't doing much and doesn't seem that interested in helping him fight. IMHO, I think they've just written him off and don't want to bother with him! Ugh....
ANyway, sorry for the rambling. I just HATE waiting around. Then of course I'm gonna have to play evil daughter and force them (parents) to tell me everything the doctor said to them. They are not open with discussing this big white elephant in the room! Very difficult to deal with.
Please continue to pray for our family.
On a much happier note...I'm celebrating my own victory of beating the cancer beast! It's my 9 year cancerverary today! Whoo-hoo. Thank you Jesus. I'm thankful for every minute, day, month and year I've been given since then!
Blessings,
Sally

Not So Good News
Well, the "beast" as it's called here, is still on the loose. My father got his scan report back and the suspicious spot on his spine is indeed cancer. He will start (or at least try) Taxol next week. Can't say any of us are "surprised" but definately disappointed. Especially my mother.
My father was suppose to meet with his other doctor to discuss next steps (besides Taxol) and whether or not he should seek out another opinion today, but satan is at work and she cancelled their appt. because she has pneumonia. So...they rescheduled for Thursday. Let's just hope that meeting happens!
Needless to say, we are all pretty bummed. And rightfully so. Though my father is taking it much better than my mother. My mother is a very stoic woman but today's news hit her really hard. There is something about seeing the written word of a diagnosis and seeing the scans , that it becomes all too real. She has known over the past 6 months what in all probablity would happen, yet couldn't really grasp it until today.
Sherri...to let ya know...having used a little of Jim and your story, has opened my mother up to trying a bit harder. She has the phone number of the Therasphere center in our area and is FINALLY gonna give them a call. Thanks for being so open with your story. God is using it to reach and help others!:)
Please continue to pray for all of us. I know from here on out, it's just gonna get harder. I just keep telling my mom that we have to fight the wars as they pop up and dad will let us know when he doesn't want to fight anymore.
Blessings to All,

So Sorry to hear of your fathers news. I will keep all of you in my prayers.
I think it is harded on the family than it is on the one getting treated. My spouse took my treatments harder than I did. He is still a nevous wreck and everything is fine now.
God bless you and your family.
