The waiting goes on
I have never had such a negative reaction to a doctor before. I felt no trust, no confidence in this doctor at all. I went in there, expecting answers and a solution, and instead I get a “wait and see” and am given no where to go to find out what really is wrong, if I trust his diagnosis. Which I don’t. Not to say that I am WANTING to have cancer – I would like to hear this from someone that I can trust. Believe me, I am happy that he said that it is probably benign, but in giving me two different names for my cyst, he gave me two different definitions for it. Why is it I have really no more answers than I did before? Is there anyone that can explain this to me? So am I back to square one on this? I am more pissed off than ever. I was so angry at the appointment I was in tears. Here, I expected this doctor to give me answers, and instead I get more questions. I am soooo tired of questions.

I agree, locate another
I agree, locate another medical oncologist and have your records, reports, scans, transferred to new DR. The 10% chance that the cyst is cancer needs to be verified as just waiting is not a smart alternative. When you see this new medical oncologist, he/she can always refer you to a urologist as well. The important thing is to have a team of DR's communicating and working together on your behalf. Start with Medical Oncologist0 -

I agree with HeartofSoul to get a second opinion.Do not limit yourself to an oncologist. The Kidney Cancer Specialist could be another Urologist an Oncologist or a Surgeon, but you are looking for someone who focuses on Kidney Cacer as part of their practice (one day doctors will learn what they are doing and will not have to practice anymore).0 -

I should have an appointment in the next couple weeks with a urological oncologist within the next couple weeks, I called this morning and they can get me in pretty soon! The other place I call could only get me in after 10/20. I don't feel like waiting that long.0 -

Denifitely get another opinion. If only for your piece of mind. I had an addominal sono back in 2006 for a unrelated problem and a lesion was noted on the left kidney. The doctor said we will keep an eye onit even after I had asked her if I should go to a specialist. I am now awaiting robotic surgery for 1 3 cm cancerous tumor. I do not want want to frighten you and it is probably fine, but we have to be our own advocates. If you still are not quite sure with that doctor, go for even another opinion. good luck0 -

I send my best wishes to you, madiarsg. I hope all goes well.
goo luck. Go in armed with a list of questions. Nothing is stupid to ask. And if they do not like to answer questions, they are not right for you. I am always emailing my surgeon quesitons as I think of them. That is how he likes to communicate and he does respond. Remember positive attitude. I need to constantly remind myself of this when I I a bad day.0 -

Best of luck on your second opinion. Keep in mind though that if it is, or is likely to be Kidney Cancer that Kidney Cancer is close to 100% curable if it is taken care of before it spreads.0 -
Second Opinion
No matter what is going on - if your doctor isn't taking your health as seriously as you are - go find a doctor who will. Get another opinion as soon as you can.0
